The worst celebrity tech mishaps
It seems every other week we hear about another celebrity whose Gmail account was hacked, smartphone was stolen or Twitter profile was compromised. Whether their stardom makes them a target for attacks or if it’s all for publicity (or somewhere in between), here’s a look back at some of the more memorable celebrity tech mishaps over the past couple of years.
Paris Hilton
Say 'oui' to Paris
One of the first major celebrity attacks was in 2005, when Paris Hilton's Sidekick phone account was breached – via a T-Mobile vulnerability -- by a Massachusetts teen and fan of the hotel heiress. Allegedly, her password "tinkerbell" was guessed (yep, the name of her pet Chihuahua) and posted suggestive photos, notes and her celebrity-filled address book to the web.

“Tinkerbell” – duh, wouldn’t have been too hard to hack that one!! I know we’re not talking Twitter here, but in the past couple of years there’s been so many people tweeting ridiculous things, from Weiner in New York (lost his job) to….I don’t know what…there are so many. I know a lot of you use it and celebs use it to market themselves & their products but although I love technology, I would NEVER open a Twitter account. Hardly ever drink….but if I had a couple…….or many like so many celebs do, it is just crazy what they tweet and always regret it. I believe people have too much time on their hands to tweet about where they’re going for lunch, etc. It’s so childish, I just don’t understand!
These extremely large photos are uncalled for and annoying. You need to scroll just to see the (supposedly) interesting part (the text). Also, who wants to see skanks like Paris in large?
I really don’t understand why you writers consider this idiot a celebrity,,REALLY!
PS…I meant this about Paris Hilton…
I dont know of half these people, and the other half, i could care less about thier stupidity.
I agree with Anne. The pictures are far too big. They take longer to load and sympatico seems to have this thing about having the entire page reload rather than just the new picture when you hit the next button. Sympatico should really get with the times. There are plenty of sites out there where, when you hit the “next” picture button, only the picture changes and not the whole page. I suspect it might have something to do with counters for the advirtisments.
