Is this a Safari killer on the iPad?

By No Comments

Spend five minutes tapping around with Readdle’s Terra web browser, a Safari browser alternative, and you’ll understand why it’s the No. 1 free productivity download at the App Store.

Not only is the Terra browser free and fast, but the browser offers a handful of features including easy-to-use tabbed browsing and the ability to save web pages as images to read offline.

You can also password-protect desired websites, read webpages full screen (by selecting to hide toolbars and tabs), group bookmarks into folders and search for a keyword on a page by selecting the “Find Text” option (ideal for long articles).

Similar to some desktop browsers, an “incognito” mode option deletes your browsing history and cookies when you’re done surfing.

As with Apple’s own Safari, you can send websites to friends (or yourself) via email, save photos to your albums, and pinch and zoom to better read text and view photos, respectively.

But no, Terra won’t load Flash-based websites. You could use CloudBrowse browser app for that, for you’ll find it much slower.
