Hi Marc:
Thanks again for a great review of the new Apple iPod Touch.
Appreciate your candid comments regarding the camera being less than 1 megapixel. Overall, I like it but wish some of the specs had been a bit closer to the iPhone. It would have been even greater for those who don’t need or can’t afford the iPhone 4 and a cellular contract. Still, I am considering the iPod Touch as an option to give my daughters as an Anniversary Gift as they already have their own phone plans. Your Facetime demonstration helped me see how easy it is and while talking on the phone is nice, being able to talk and see the person is that much nicer. Video calls will no doubt become popular from this point in time on.
Once again, thanks for a great review.

I wanted that until I found it wouldn’t even be a remotely useful camera on the go type device
Thanks Edward,
Appreciate the kind words. Yes, those Apple commercials (FaceTime) really tug at the heartstrings and it’s true…!
Marc
Hey Marc,
Fabulous review! I really appreciate you analysis and the FaceTime demo.
Cheers,
Victor
Hi Marc,
The back camera of the latest Ipod touch is not VGA (640×480 or 0.3 MP). It’s slightly better than a VGA . It’s actually 960×720 which is about 0.7 Megapixels. I agree that it should at least have been 2 MP. But 0.7 MP is good enough for posting pictures on the web.
It’s a good thing as well that it can record video at 30fps.
JOHN
Hi John Paul, good catch. The Apple Canada and U.S. have different info:
U.S.: VGA-quality photos and video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio
Canada: Video recording, HD (720p), up to 30 frames per second with audio; still photos (960 x 720).
And of course, the front-facing camera is only VGA photos.
Best,
Marc
