Gang-rape photos shared on Facebook
Images of a teenager being gang-raped have been posted and passed along via social networking sites and mobile phones. Should Facebook et al be forced to do something to stop this from happening again?
As reported by Sympatico News, photos of a 16-year-old girl being gang-raped at a rave in Vancouver have been posted on Facebook and passed around via an email. According to the RCMP, the girl was given a date-rape drug and, while unconscious, raped by 5 to 7 people. An extract from the Sympatico story:
Cpl. Jennifer Hyland said the pictures of the rape have spread like wildfire through social networking sites and cellphones, despite attempts by police and the victim’s family to stop them. Hyland said many of the youths contacted by police were defiant when asked to stop distributing the pictures. “They continue to be reposted by other youths who are receiving them and posting them back onto various websites, including Facebook, and are being shared amongst BlackBerrys and iPhones,” she said. “It is spreading like wildfire and our attempts to stop this victim from reliving this … it’s just getting worse. The more we try to tell people to take it off the more people send it and post it.”
I really don’t have the words to describe my feelings about this disgusting crime and the disgusting little people who committed it, so shall not try to. I do, however, wish to talk about the broader issues and what steps should be taken as a result of this case – besides, that is, locking up those responsible and throwing away the key. To my mind, there are a couple of important issues that need to be considered:
- Whether this could lead to a new trend of posting crime photos/photos of the victims of crimes to Facebook and other social networking sites.
- Whether social networking sites should be compelled to do more to stop photos such as this “going viral”.
In my opinion, the answer to both points is a definite yes. It saddens me to say it, but I can definitely see this becoming a trend. Maybe not in such extreme cases, but I could certainly see it becoming fashionable for kids to post photos of minor wrongdoings to social networks – in which case, it would be the existence of social networks that was helping to incite crime. In relation to point #2, I absolutely think that social networks should be compelled to do more to protect people – nobody should have to suffer the humiliation of their rape photos appearing on Facebook. According to a Times Columnist item:
Facebook declined to answer questions about the gang rape images that were on its social media site. “We don’t have intricate details to share about this case at this time, but we can provide a statement that we do not tolerate this behaviour,” Victoria Freeman, a senior consultant at High Road Communications, which handles press inquiries for Facebook in Canada, wrote in an e-mail. “Facebook is a place to connect and share with your friends, and cases such as this are not tolerated by Facebook. We have a dedicated team of User Operations analysts that monitor for inappropriate content, but we continue to encourage users to report anything they see online that is offensive.”
I don’t think that’s enough. It doesn’t matter how expensive or inconvenient it may be, social networks need to take action to stop such material being posted, not to remove it once it’s already been posted. How could they do that? Well, one way would be for all photo uploads to be reviewed by a human before posting with a small fee being charged to cover the reviewer’s wage. As the review process would take only a matter of seconds, the per-photo cost to end users would only be minimal.
What do you think, Sync readers? What needs to be learned and what action needs to be taken as a result of this case?

Returned home last night after a very peaceful empowering “Take back the Night” walk, turned on the telly, and I became sickened and disgusted about the vermin that committed the rape. Social networking vis-a-vis sites such as ‘all about me’ aka Facebook, has encouraged the removal of civility from our society, it has endangered our language, and our social skills.
The discussion of course will be all about how quickly this horrific act caught on cell phone camera has made it around the world, instead of how violently this young woman’s life has come to a halt. She was brutally attacked in the same manner all women are assaulted – powerless.
Please people please, do not let this discussion be about the animals that did this to her. This was a hate crime against a female, a young life ruined.
Parents teach your children well, abolish them from FB until they are mature enough to understand the consequences.
I hope and pray the courts will throw the book at the snake in the grass that thought posting this crime on line would be cool instead of calling 911.
you are a idiot. you have made a fool of yourself in public.. well done!
Women never “owned” the night. The idea of taking it back is ridiculous. Nightime is when predators roam. I could preach to a tiger that he shouldn’t eat me all I want, but I’m not going to get in the cage. You can have all the empowerment meetings you want, but the fact is, you only put yourself at risk by pretending that this will make certain areas, at certain times, safe. Common sense is being replaced with feministic day-dreaming.
Hi Richard. You are very correct. But then, when have women libbers been known for exercising “Common sense…”? Pretty well, never. They are insecure, selfish, self-centered extremists who don’t even have or use any “Common sense”, even if they have any. They are doing a very great disservice to themselves by being like this. They will always be hated for being like this, for being so hateful towards all men. God’s way is much better, to LOVE OTHERS more then loving ourselves.
Richard,
Are you one of those people who believe that “most woman ask for it” by the way they dress, or where they are, cause it sure sounds like it to me.That would make the “predators” a very weak type of person.
A tiger is an animal, just in case you were unaware of that, and generally they do not roam the streets in Canada.
Men, or gangs however, do, and will continue to do so, as long as there are people like you.Common sense, God given common sense as my great grandmother would say, applies to men who are not so easily tempted, by words, or dress, or the location of a female. They are real men who stand uo against such crimes.
The mark of a truly civilized community is that they do not fear to allow their grandmothers and mothers and sisters and daughters to go out for a walk at night.Or walk to the store, or to a friends place.
In the community where I live, there are bears, and cougars, and we were brought up knowing the dangers, what to do and how to avoid those situations. No one I know was mauled or eaten by those animals. I walked to friends places in the dark, from an early age. I carried a big stick with spikes through it for protection from swamp rats, on certain routes, but not bears, or cougar.Yes, we were taught how to “talk’ to those predators.Never run, these animals see that as weakness. If a bear threatens you, look for the cub,and get out of the line between mother bear and cub, slowly, while facing the animal.Make lots of noise,as you walk so you won’t suprise any animal.
If there was a bear or cougar seen in the area, the phone calls went out, housepets and children were brought inside,
men with rifles were seen in every few yards, not to shoot on sight but to be ready should things go bad.So, if some predatory human was stalking someone, and people were watching out for their communities and each other and the calls went out, and men with rifles appeared, every few yards….how often would women or girls worry about being safe? They wouldn’t cause their men were in control, ready and able,Fathers, brothers, uncles teachers, neighbours and friends, and had any one of those men seen anything like what was happening to this girl….someone might have paused long enough to call the police. Most likely they would have intervened, and dragged what was left to the police station, not one of them ashamed to have been part of stopping something that was just plain wrong. Can you figure out what they would have:said, done, educated any person who just stood there watching,or taking picures? Threaten some mothers children and see how long you live in a small community. They probably won’t kill you, but they will most definatley help you learn proper manners.
This was an interesting read. I agree whole-heartedly your opinions on what ‘real’ men do, and that is to not have their actions dictated to because of the when, where, and why circumstances regarding women. I did, however, say real men.
The ugly truth, though, is that there are many men out there who do not share our thoughts on morality and civility, and while women don’t “ask for it”, there is a direct correlation to your bear and cougar story, for what it is worth.
I do not think in any way, shape, or form, that this young lady deserved to be treated like a piece of meat, and my heart goes out to her.
But here is where the stories about animals and rape cross over together.
You say that you live near wild animals, and as such, there are precautions to take, such as that stick you carry. You also have to carry on in a safe manner, i.e. don’t leave food out, make lots of noise around bear country so you don’t startle them, and perhaps carry a gun to ward off your neighbourhood puma.
Failure to do this could result in harm or death. It is folly.
The same goes for women. While dressing provocatively should not invite personal harm, it does draw the attention of those who are driven by their hormones, and not their brain. The more ‘loose’ a woman looks, the lesser class of man she will attract. And it goes without saying that a drunken pervert or a misogynistic man can be driven into a state far more readily by a scantily clad woman than by a conservatively dressed lady.
So, do we assert our right to be ‘open and free’ or do we use a little wisdom and class?
Just my 2 cents.
I cannot believe this happened in my country. It is a dark day for Canadians that this happened here, that some among us can be so cruel and so craved for negative peer attention. That there could be such a large group involved and none do the right thing. Every person who knew about that is responsible. I think anyone who (re)posts those pictures should be charged with posting and possession of child porn regardless whether they think its a crime or not. It’s for the police to teach them what their crime is and indeed it is a heinous crime. Facebook shouldn’t charge everyone to use it and they already advertised it would be a free service so they shouldn’t go back on that, many people use facebook for good- activism, family contacts etc. Those that abuse the privilege should have their account banned and if serious be referred to the proper authorities. I think it is everyone’s responsibility to flag inappropriate content like it is in real life to report crimes. This is very disconcerting news in disconcerting times.
The houses of the people who post the images should be bulldozed.
Facebook should be shut down until all the individuals are caught.
Facebook should then be reactivated and the guilty parties hung live on facebook. the attack that started it all would never happen again. Guaranteed.

“Simple Solution”? Should be “Simple mind”. What are you, a rabid muslim? Your advice is 1,000 times worse then some pictures. Why don’t we start by bulldozing your house, first? Hanging people? You are a raving lunatic! Calm down and relax. It isn’t the end of the world. But your demands will certainly hasten the world’s end.
I didnt know “rabid muslims” had to do with hanging people, and bulldozing houses… although what you said made sense, … your comments will certainly hasten the world’s end :p
Spellchecker. Simple Solution said to bulldoze the boy’s parents houses down and hang them (the boys) on FaceBook. What do “rabid muslims” do? They try to kill as many other people as possible by blowing themselves up. They also believe the koran that all non-muslims must either become muslims or be killed. Is that “rabid” enough for you?
Hi Vince,
From what I’ve read of your comments, I’ve found your thought process to be narrowminded and racist. “Rabid muslims”? Way to be xenophobic. I believe that simplesolution was being sarcastic through exageration, and I’m not sure why you decided to use that to interject racist comments. Also feminists are not all “insecure, selfish, self-centered extremists” and god does not exist.
Cheers,
Erica
Facebook cannot be held accountable for everything that goes on by the people socializing in the accounts as that would be contrary to the privacy of information act. Wasn’t it just recently that they were ordered to make their site for secured for the users? In todays day and age of technology, I feel that we shoul be looking at the parents! When I was growing up (1970′s) my parents knew where I was at ALL times and going with friends on the weekends meant going out as a group to a local school or banquet hall for some dancing. We were always home by 1:00am and that includes the ages of 18-20. I find that in today’s society, the youth of today, are not respectful towards being responsible young adults and they never think of the consequences that some actions could bring because they know that up to 16, “under the youth offenders court, can’t be charged like an adult”. Maybe if our court systems changed their way of punishing these youths, they would think twice before they do certain things. In this particular case, just a bunch of young guys getting off on testosterone and feeling powerful that they all got their “rocks off”. The young lady involved will more than likely now be scarred for life; emotionally, mentally, physically and will probably take a VERY long time to trust a male again. May God bless her and her family during this very difficult time. To the parents of the male youths, “you should be keeping a more watchful eye and have a harder hand on how your boys “have a good time”.

Jong: I agree with you on this part!
Jong. How nice to hear that you are such a level-headed non-hater. How true that today’s youth, as you said, “are not respectful towards being responsible young adults and they never think of the consequences.” Many don’t respect anything or anybody, even themselves. They are totally self-centered, self-pleasuring narcisists.
Quite simply, the young woman shouldn’t have gone to the rave. When you go to such an event, drugs are a key part, and you understand (or at least should…) the risk you’re taking. The guys commited a crime, but she was stupid to go there. And, never forget that not all stories are reported accurately. Realisticly, she either recipricated or initiated flirtatious contact with them – else getting a drug into her drink would be very difficult. No one besides the guys and the gal are responsible. So chill. FaceBook doesn’t owe anyone anything.
Young women should stay inside under lock and key or else it is their fault if they get raped. Also flirting, doing drugs, wearing certain clothing, drinking, dancing too sexy = instarape.
Facebook needs to be held totally accoutable..It needs to be completely taken off the aire..All of the participants involved need huge jail time..As human beings we need to stand up for this poor girl..
What if the people posted the pictures on a board at your local grocery store? Charge the owners of the store? No! You try to find who posted the pictures and charge them! Facebook is not to blame for the idiots who posted such crap!! Sure Facebook should remove the pictures and the account that was used to post the pictures, but to charge them with a crime? No!!
My heart aches for this girl and her family. What has been done here can never be undone – these photos and video will be out in cyberspace forever.
On the flip side of this coin, I take great satisfaction in knowing that so are the faces of the men committing this despicable act, out in cyberspace forever. Forever will all of society all over the world know who these animals are and they will never be able to deny it or put it behind them. This applies, as well, to the moron that posted these photos / video on Facebook – at the age of 16 you DO know better !
While I fervently hope these criminals are punished to the fullest extent of the law, I also know they have sentenced themselves to a lifetime of inescapable misery and hardship which they richly deserve.
Facebook should charge people to upload photos? that’s one of the most stupid things I’ve ever read.
This is why our society is so silly- you think that this one in a million event should result in millions of people being penalised when they want to post legit pics? Think, you, think.
I think it was very ‘heads up’ that people recorded the rape.It should lead to a quick conviction. The idiots who posted them should be charged with something that would deter other idiots in the future.I don’t think that facebook is the problem though. If anyone comes across these or any other photos like these they should immediately contact the police and give them the name of the poster.
While it is advantagous for the police to have a video record of this horrific crime, it is not because the person recording it was being a “heads up” good samaritan.
This loser stood there and watched and snapped pictures / video while this girl was repeatedly physically assaulted and sexually violated by several men. Did this person ask for someone to call 911 while he was being “heads up” ? NO ! This loser was getting his own kicks watching, recording, and posting this onto Facebook for everyone to have a good leer/laugh/ogle over.
This entire event and the perpetrators involved is sickening.
You are right.I should have read the Times article before commenting.
This whole situation makes me feel sick.
Anyone who is distributing this stuff is as bad as those who raped this girl, and furthermore should be charged with distributing child porn and put on an official sex offender register.
It makes any civilized person sick. But young morons, raised on the sickening Hollywood-spawned idea of ultimate narcissism and the need for attention don’t react like most people. They react like what they are, as sociopaths. It’s no small surprise either that the parents of this age group where the core of the radical 1960′s with its disdain for dignity and consideration for others.
Correction:the teens of the sixties are grandparents now.I don’t think it’s fair to blame the grandparents.
I think you’re retarded. Nobody will pay facebook anything, especially not for someone you don’t know to look through your photos and say whether THEY think it’s ok to post.
It’s called raising your kids properly. Focus on the PEOPLE doing the crime, and not the medium they do it in, and maybe you might have a chance to stop it. I say people should post photos of the perpetrators and their families in a similar viral fashion, and be done with it. Tit for tat. Otherwise, stop blaming facebook, and learn how to be a good, and responsible citizen – and teach your children that too. You don’t blame the gun manufacturers for killing people, so why blame facebook or raves? Focus on the people. Don’t be hyperbolic and idiotic.
Think, man, think.
These people need positive adult role models in their lives. When you know better you do better! I totally agree it is not a facebook problem. Adults! step up and raise the children that you have been blessed with. These kids are not born into this world lacking in empathy, somewhere along the line something has gone wrong that would enable them to think that this is appropriate behaviour. Very very sad.
Silly. No-one needs to pay to upload photos. Facebook out of its massive budget should cover the cost of reviewing the photos itself. As should every other social networking and photosharing site. Facebook should also make available to police the identities of every individual who has posted the images. The handling of this case will set a very important precedent in terms of deterrent.
Here is a classic example of the of the lack of morals and lack of respect lots of todays youth have. I find that alot of these young kids these days are doing more unacceptable acts then ever. Ive been to plenty of raves back in the day when a “rave” was still a rave. It was all about the music and the good vibes. You had the odd punk who did random stupid crap like sell drugs or maybe fight but to actually rape a young girl is something unheard of.
The parties I remember, if u tried something as sick as that you would of got your a** kicked. Now people just watch and tape it…..grow some peanuts and stand up for someone!!!!!!!!
this girl is forever changed!!
With all the knowledge and technologies at present, why can’t FB block further posting of the subject video? It’s just a matter of common sense and civility to stop this. Why wait the fuss to aggravate?
This is a brutal event that will no doubt tremendously impact this young girls entire life. How the men who perpetrated this insideous crime can live with themselves is beyond comprehension to any mentally stable human being. These men deserve to suffer for an extensive period of time…and then forced to re-live that suffering for the rest of their lives over and over again. Unfortunately we live in a society that demonstrates tolerance, acceptance, and apathy for the perpetrators of crimes like these. This is clearly proven by our Young Offenders Act and its sad minimal sentences that provide very little substance in deterring would-be criminals. Further proving this fact is our legal system, and our members of society who insist on examining the pasts of these criminals to determine if their rough upbringing played a role in their choices, and then proceeding to treat the offenders rather than enforce justice for the victim. It’s very sad…but this country in no way stands united behind the introduced legislation and implementation of any true deterring consequences or punishments. Unfortunately, until that changes, crimes like these can only be expected to continue.
Further to the disgusting act of these perpetrators in circulating disgusting images of their inhumane actions against this poor girl…Obviously their are people who know who these criminals are. How about using facebook, or some other social networking media to diistribute the first and last names, addresses, home phone numbers, and areas these perpetrators frequent in an effort to assist karma. These brutal criminals used social networking to circulate this poor girl’s images and the horrifying and traumatizing violence against her. This will hurt her over and over. Why doesn’t somebody stand up and advertise these sick criminals using the same avenues. Post photographs of the criminals not the victim! This way the public can identify them and treat them as they deserve to be treated.
Just a thought.
Most mental pigmies replying on this blog are so knee-jerk, hystirical and narrow-minded. What about this girl? She must not care too much about what happens to her. If she cared, she wouldn’t be at such a place, to start with, and she wouldn’t be drinking or doing who knows what other things that led her to this event.
seriously . . . . you’re blaming the girl? and yet you call other people “mental pigmies (it’s pygmy, by the way) and narrow minded”. Read your first year psychology text over. The victim is not to blame. This, unfortunately, could have happened to any woman, in any club, anywhere in the world. It’s a sad, disgusting commentary on the state of how violence against women is still tolerated and accepted the world over. No comments about the morals and ethics of all the young men at the Rave Vince?
Pygmies – pluralization of the word “pygmy”. Yes, I am that petty to post a comment only correcting you since you felt the need to wrongly correct Vince.
Hi Lisa. Thanx for the reply. A victim is not always a victim. She could have wished, even subconsciously, for this to have happened. You disagree? Are you God? Don’t you know of all kinds of perversions that both sexes knowingly participate in? If she led the boys into doing what they did, then who are really the victims? The boys! Then, because of all the bad press and to appease her parents, she cries that she is the victim. And, if she was a willing participant, then there was NO violence, either. It was just sex. And, of course you being God and all, you claim to know everyone’s morals and ethics, too? Please. Stop demonizing people as if you really know everyone’s motives. You really don’t know anything. So stop flapping those gums of yours so much, and start looking at human nature and life, realistically. Don’t show your obvious men-hating attitudes so much. You have NO compassion. You are clearly just a hater.
What?Only God can disagree with you?You really are a mental pygmy. When seven guys rape you we will know that you were asking for it.
Bob (you sound like a female). You said, “What?Only God can disagree with you?You really are a mental pygmy. When seven guys rape you we will know that you were asking for it.” I didn’t say anything about God disagreeing with anyone. I said that it sounded like a specific commenter thought that they were God, supposedly knowing other people’s thoughts and motives. Only God can ‘know other people’s thoughts and motives’. I am not saying, either, that all women who get raped are asking for it. But some, definitely, do ask for it. Yes. More and more girls are doing the chasing and seducing, and even of several boys/men at the same time. The truth, often, surpasses fiction. All I’m saying is, don’t be so quick to judge and condemn, as if you really know other people’s motives, because no one, including you, can read anyone elses mind.
All you women out there who want to be drugged and raped by several different men in an overgrown farm field with a 16 year old boy taking photos and video which he will post on Facebook for the whole world to see please raise your hands.
I won’t hold my breath.
Affirmed.
Well said Justice!
The problem is not facebook, the problem is the obvious lack of parenting and supervsion that these young people have. Seriously, if you have a teen residing in your house, you need to be monitering and providing the proper level of supervision of their on line use. There is something wrong with that young boy who thought it was appropriate to display these horrific acts on facebook for all to see. Your sense of compassion and empathy is obviously impaired and I would hope that every single parent out there will start to think about their rsponsibility in raising children who are compassionate and have some self respect.
“compassion and empathy”? Since when has anyone under the influence of drugs and booze been “compassionate and empathysing”? Don’t any of you people know how to think?
I love how you are trying to be a voice of reason, but coming back with rediculously ignorant reasonings… very Canadian Bacon of you… reminds me of the deep American South
if these so called young people are tried as children then where is justice. so much for kiddie court young offenders yea right. if they are old enough to have sex and do something like this to a young girl.
Then throw away the youth crap see them for what they are
SEXUAL PREDATORS AND SHOULD GO TO REAL JAIL AND BE REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS. THIS MEANS NO SPECIAL TREATMENT.
Q: why would this shock anybody ? we are not that far removed from our chimpanzee ancestors.
In fact, we are FAR WORSE, we are the most dangerous of all animals.
We as humans have been taught for years that we are a higher form of life; HOWEVER, take a trip to any courthouse on Monday morning, and you will soon see that this long-standing belief is a genuine fallacy!!
A human manufactured fantasy.
In addition, whats good in the jungle, rape, cannibalism, etc, is also good here!!
Admit why you are searching this story, if you are truthful, you will say it’s to see the pics for yourself.
People who comment on-this thread are no better than the people who are in control of these photos.
So stop blaming Facebook for bringing out was was already seeded in us ” so called” humans, years ago.
In our primitive brains, denying what we are, ( ANIMALS WHO SHAVE ) and putting humans in jail for being humans is the problem.
If an animal smells food it will eat it, and so will we.
If an animal sees one of its kind in heat, it will have intercourse with it, so will we, or at least we will try.
We are still very much beasts in the wilderness, the concrete wilderness!..still!!
I have no interest in seeing those photos.I would bet that you are the only one who came here for that reason. You do not speak for we,only for yourself.Go crawl back into the jungle.
Animals don’t make date rape drugs. Your big kid words don’t disguise your idiotic and ignorant viewpoint
I really do not think I came from monkeys so I do not think I am an animal.
I guess that I was brought up with morals and by people that care for me enough to pass these morals (life Skills caring for others and to be the best person I can),
But to blame animals for your own miss deeds and messed up thoughts is rediculous.
We all should stand and take responsibility and if we see wrong then try to change it remember the world has been changed over and over by just one person.
I have a degree in psychology, am pursuing further study in grad school and am a believer in evolutionary psychology. However, I don’t believe what you write, nor would most evolutionary psychologists (and by most, I would venture the vast majority: the only reason I do say all is because there is one rotten apple in every bunch. However, I’d like to think it’d only be one).
You do not know your animals. First off, have you every seen an animal try to mate with a non-consenting animal? There are consequences: if the female doesn’t bite off your balls, there are many others in the pack who will defend one of their own (as most breeders). Welcome to the concrete jungle, where we used an organized method called the justice system to defend our own as equally as we use it to prevent the vigilante justice of the “wild.”
Secondly, you have failed to acknowledge the unique of the human animal – not just in our “higher functioning” brains:
- Women are only “in heat” for approx. three days out of their cycle and adolescents have less fully cycles than adult women (they are not “regular”). Chances are that she was NOT IN HEAT.
- As part of an evolutionary advantage, a woman’s ovulation is not detectable to outside individuals. She does not have visibly inflamed parts of her body, she does not give off a different scent detectable by males (most pheromones signal general health and fertility). If she doesn’t present herself for mating, which this girl did not, the males do not know she is in heat (in fact, in our modern society, most women are unaware that they are in heat and rely on modern technology such as ovulation tests to confirm it.) There was no call to mating.
- The VAST majority of women will not “gang-bang” and are biologically designed to do so: once we have mated, hormones are released to decrease desire that go so far as to inhibit further orgasms in the near future (women may be “capable” of multiples, as we do not have expended resources that need as much time to replenish, but how many actually do? FEW! RARELY! Hormones prevent it). An evolutionary reason might be that sex is actually really rough on the body, particularly the vagina, and this signal to stop gives our bodies time to heal, as well as prevent the likelihood of sickness from multiple exposures to disease (which happens with every mating, and not just STIs). This idea of gang-banging is mostly a male fantasy and should be saved for porn, if that.
- Humans are inherently, inborn social creatures. This is so strong that a lack of social contact and cohesion can actually bring about stress and illness. As social creatures, pack animals, we react in defence of our own, particularly when doing so will not put us in harm’s way. Maybe no one stepped in at the time for evolutionary reasons – fear of being harmed themselves – but after the fact, when no harm is near or the pack has the advantage, they will retaliate. Again, outrage, vilifying those involved, seeking justice.
You cannot use the argument for “locking up humans for what humans do” as MOST DO NOT DO THAT! If it is truly what humans do, more would be doing it. There are deviants –or rotten apples – in every bunch but they are usually killed or ostracized from the group. Hmm, doesn’t that sound like – oh, I don’t know – prison?!? Death penalty in some states?
N.B. There are also punishments for incorrect and/or destabilizing the social function of the pack in animals. Does this sound like punishing the photographers and videographers to you?
Yep, we’re animals: feeling the drive to rip the criminals limb from limb. Such is our evolutionary destiny.
Lori. First, evolution is just a THEORY. Believing in evolution doesn’t make it right. People believed the earth was flat and that the moon was made of cheese, but those beliefs didn’t make these dumb beliefs true. Also, just because you have a “degree in psychology” doesn’t mean anything, either. Woop tee do. You must now think that you are somebody and that you know it all and that everything you believe is correct. BS. You are not thinking for yourself, which is why we were given brains. To blindly and unquestioningly believe everything that you are told in school, without thinking, is the height of stupidity. Poor, poor you. I really feel sorry for you.
Humans are NOT animals because we did NOT come from animals. God created us in His image. I never heard of the theory that women are in heat for 3 days. You guys will say anything to try to prove that humans are animals. How pitiful of you.
Also, there is no such thing as a “justice system”. We have a judicial system that is totally whacked. 80% of convicted people are really innocent. They just pled guilty so that they could escape long jail terms before their cases could come to court. Also, most people are charged by the evil police, falsely.
“feeling the drive to rip the criminals limb from limb” is just a function of our sinful natures where all we really know is to hate and to hurt others. Let God come into your life and you will learn the much more pleasent way of loving others. Even loving those who hurt you. It’s a good thing you can’t “rip the criminals limbs”. You might think you know who the criminals are, but you really don’t know who they are. If the girl asked to be banged by her friends, initially, then who is the real criminal? The girl? Or no one?
Did you even absorb anything she wrote? Cause you agreed with a good portion of it…
STFU. We’re not descended from monkeys. We were created by God. And,while I can’t prove that, neither can you prove me wrong. So don’t wave the THEORY of evolution around like it is fact. It’s just an idea, and an unprovable one at that.
First and foremost, the Canadian laws are lacking the guts required to curb this type of activity. Once you reach the age of 12, you should be tried as an adult period.
This young girl should not have been subjected to this hideous act, but perverts are abound everywhere in our daily lives and are waiting for opportunities to prey on people such as this young girl.
Raves themselves are a an act of abomination (acts against god’s will and teachings), and then we hear of such a horrific act occuring. Well, I am not surprised. This one was publicized, but how many are occuring in the dark all the time that is not made public.
FACEBOOK is a social ticking timebomb and this just proves it. We as a society need to shut these sites down altogether and put in place more healthy social infrastructure in place to allow people to meet. These types of sites allow for our inner evils to show as it provides a veil of secrecy.
Every person who took pictures are a part of the crime and should have their FACEBOOK account revoked immediately, their pictures/names posted on a special FACEBOOK warning page as to why they were removed and will remain so forever. This is what FACEBOOK should do at minimum.
In the end, those who committed this evil act of fornication are doomed to hell eternal. Make no doubt about that. Life is but a smallest amount of time in our existence. We all are here to live for the hereafter. But it is the deeds we do here that will write which gate we will pass through.
The rapists and the picture takers are hell bound and that is the solice that this young lady must surround herself in as it will happen. My prayer for her is to hope in God to punish these evil doers both here first, then in the hereafter as well. That way others may be dettered.
And to the young lady and to all, a wise man once told me that any activity that has no benefit for your life hereafter, is one you should always stay away from as it leads to evil.
anonymous. This so-called rape, because we don’t really know if it was, was publisized, to stir up the all of the men-haters into a hating feeding frenzy.
Also, you clearly don’t know God at all, even though you try to make people believe that you do. You aren’t “doomed to hell eternal” for one sin. All are sinners and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”. Does that mean that we will all go to hell?
Also, hell or burnig hell does not last forever as in “hell eternal”.
And, didn’t you hear of the prodigal son? Luke 15:24 “For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.” Yes, God gives everyone many chances to find Him and be saved. But when we die or when probationary time runs out, we then can’t change sides, God’s side or satan’s side. That is what is meant by Revelation 22:11 “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
We also shouldn’t “pray and hope for God to punish these evil doers”. That is satan’s spirit. We should be like Jesus who asked His Father, God, even as He was dying on the cross, to forgive the poor people who were crucifying Him, for they didn’t really know what they were doing. Luke 23:34.
Now we know where you are coming from Vince. You’re quoting a book which may or may not be the word of god.Maybe it was only written to drive all people into a hating feeding frenzy.
How can it NOT be the word of God? It’s the HOLY BIBLE written by the PROPHESIED. They were chosen to write the word of the Lord. Even as it sounds crazy and outlandish, the Lord can do all. He can send images and thoughts to the Saints and have them write it. That’s how a part of the bible was created before Jesus was born.
Also, the bible holds stories that explain many situations. Sinful, death, life, humbleness, etc. So it may not be the word of God, as the Saints wished to explain in story. Like what Vince said. Read all of Luke 15. It’s a story that explains someone’s soul being killed by Sin, and returning to his father. Asking for forgiveness, the father celebrates his return. And why? Because the son had been dead as he was sinful. Now he has returned and he is anew.
You missed the point.Vince was doubting the gang rape of the girl which was reported in a newspaper. Then he turns around and uses the bible to trash a Christian.A book that is based on faith not proof. If you want to believe that it is the word of God,more power to you.Whatever gets you through the night.
I have to agree with Bob. Vince is making a mockery of something that he only knows very little of If he actually read the bible and tried to understand he may have a different view on life cause yes We all fall short of the Glory of God and we can only ask for forgivness.
And as the Prodical son returns the father is so happy to see his return He rejoices.
If you look at it like I do If I fall short My asking for forgiveness with the lord. He rejoices to see me come back to him.
Lol… he even brought muslims into it… i love how this topic is about rape and this dude just trolls through and brings as much ludacris media hype as he possibly can… dude reminds of Perez Hilton
Spellchecker. My sharing that God’s ways are far better then human’s ways, is never preached by the main-line media. Therefore, my thoughts can NOT be called “media hype”. You obviously are just spouting the party line, or what is also called “Conventional Wisdom”. All ‘Conventional Wisdom’ is false. It is false information created by the corporations and ruling-elite to brainwash everyone, through the media, into doing things their way to take your money from you. Your not knowing what I am talking about is proof that you don’t think. You just blindly accept what you are spoon-fed, as if you are a little baby. And what I say is NOT ludacris, because it is what God says, and He is a trillion times more intelligent then all of the people combined.
Vince you are a god damn douche racist bag
bob. The media, not reporting all of the facts accurately, are creating a hating feeding frenzy in all of the men-haters out there.
I heard a young friend of the sex participants say that the girl consented to this activity. But because of all of the bad press and to appease her father, she supposedly said she was raped. I use the word ‘supposedly’ a lot because we don’t really know what happened or people’s real motives.
discusted (or is it supposed to be disgusted?) says I’m making a mokery, of what? Then he repeats what I said about the prodigal son story in Luke in the Bible. You don’t make too much sense.
I might be a douche bag, but how am I racist? Speak up sam and explain yourself. Your eloquence is too overpowering and amazing. OK. I’m exagerating. You are not eloquent or clear about what you are trying to say. But, at least you seem to be trying to communicate, which is good. You just need a little more practice at thinking before writing. For example, you said “god damn douche racist bag”. It is much more correct to say “god damn racist, douche-bag”. See? I still love you, though. Really!
Vince, I think what he meant to call you was
“TROLL”
Hi DBS. You should really explain what a “Troll” is. Thanx.
Thank you DBS.The troll is obvious and will no longer be fed.
Bob & DBS. You might not contribute anymore to this blog, to feed me, but others, thankfully, are.
There is no way she consented. This is like those guys who randomly attack someone in the bar, because they like fights, then claim “he threw the first punch!”
Assuming she was actually capable of consent, every single guy would have had to verify she was consenting before he took “his turn.” Is that on camera? Each one asking her? Or even talking to her?
Poor little Lori. There you go again, spouting all kinds of goofyness.
How do you know she didn’t previously consent? Just because all-knowing you don’t think so?
Also, I never heard of anyone attacking someone in a bar “randomly” or without cause. Where do you get all of these weirdnesses? You clearly have not learned them from experience.
Yes, for such an event to happen, she could very well have consented with all of the participants, first. Otherwise, more or even all of the guys at the party would have participated, too. Which they didn’t. Why not? Because guys are just as interested in propriety as are girls. They are not the evil, sexual deviates that you men-haters try to portray that they are.
Again, let me repeat a basic point. She could, and I believe she did consent with all of the male participants BEFORE sex started. A friend of the participants said so.
Just because the consents are not on camera, doesn’t mean it never happened.
You clearly are damaged goods. Your ability to think has been destroyed by the liberal education system. How sad.
Sorry Vince, but your comment is just too stupid to be given a free pass.
Granted, nobody knows whether there was any consent except the participants themselves.
What we do know is that the girl was given a date-rape drug. If she was willing to make out, why would the guys slip her the drug?
She was also unconscious when she was used. If she consented, its presumably because she enjoys the experience. Why then would she miss the experience by being unconscious? Its like buying a ticket to a roller coaster and making sure you’re unconscious during the ride.
Realistically, likely is it that she would happily consent to making out with 5-7 strangers? Painful experience, I’m sure.
Also, your belief that she consented because someone “said so” is just as silly as Lori’s reason. You don’t know. What if that person lied?
Stick to the facts and less drama, you’re harming your own cause.
You are all a hoot! I’m quite entertained right now. You all should be on a radio talk-show! The ratings would skyrocket!
I’m aware that my above comment has nothing to do with the subject, but you all sound stressed. And stop taking stabs at each-other. That’s so elementary school. Say only what’s necessary to prove your point and just thank God for life.
You really ARE a ray of ‘Sunshine’. I was/am entertained too. And all of your points are good too.
No one can say anything on this topic. All we have is what the media and the girls father is telling us. Im not saying she did or didnt get raped, but like you all i havent seen the video, so i cant even make a guess. Ive been to many raves in my time, (single nighters and 3 days) and ive seen what crazy girls do when they take X and other “club drugs”. In fact, at a rave this girl i knew asked me and 3 of my friends if we would bang her in her tent. Extacy influences sexual awareness and pleasure 10 fold, for me anyways. Again, its to bad if these guys did forceably rape her because that is disgusting, but the only people that will ever know what really happened are her and those guys.
The Truth. By your comments, your name does sound appropriate. Thanx for bringing some reality and balance to this animated discussion. Your last sentence pretty well says it all; “the only people that will ever know what really happened are her and those guys.” Thanx again.
Hi. I’m replying to Jack, here, because there was NO “Reply to this comment” under his comment.
Your comment, “Sorry Vince, but your comment is just too stupid to be given a free pass.” is referring to WHAT point that I made? I guess you are saying that all of my points are stupid. If so, then why do you agree with me that no one really knows whether she consented or not? Agreeing with me contridicts your saying that all of my points are stupid. Do you ever think, or do you know how to think?
You said, “What we do know is that the girl was given a date-rape drug.” Whoa. How do we know this? Talk about drama. Again, you are showing your true colours, that you are really a female, pretending to be a guy.
Also, how do you know that making out with 5-7 strangers is a “Painful experience”? And you are even sure of this. You must be a female to be sure of this and you were probably banged by multiple guys at one go, at one or more times.
If she was willing to make out, why would the guys have to slip her a date-rape drug?
Also, did you see these picture or even the video? You certainly can’t tell from pictures whether someone is unconscious or not. And, most of the time, you can’t tell from a video, either.
I do not know if she consented or not. I’m just saying to all of the people, especially the ones who think that she was really raped, to cool it, because no one knows for sure if she was raped or not.
I read that a friend of the participants said it was consensual. I would sooner believe him then the sensationalist media, the police, or the men-haters who have contributed to this subject.
