“How to set up your new HDTV” only deals with the hardware and signal provider basics. Now tell us how to calibrate for the best picture quality. Thanks. V
Hi V Hughs,
Good questions.
That was a basic video, so I didn’t want to cover calibration in it. My favourite tip is to find a THX-enhanced DVD, such as one of the Star Wars films or Finding Nemo, and use the built-in THX Optimizer utility. It’s a free video test you for your new television that walks you through setting up contrast, brightness, colour and sharpness.
I find it works like a charm.
Marc
Hi,
I’ve had 3 different HDTVs over the years and agree with Marc that the THX Optimizer utility does a very good generic setup. I would suggest doing an Internet search for ironing out any “quirks” you may notice on any brand/model specific HDTV. Feedback on my Samsung made a huge difference in finding a solution to some very annoying image issues.
Good luck,
Steve
I bought a HDTV and am using an outside antennae.. the picture is great.. just wondered if there is a way I can record to my vcr from the tv… I have the vcr hooked up through a switch box…
