Video: Apple’s first iPad commercial. Like it?

American viewers of the Oscars might have caught Apple’s first iPad commercial — and Steve Jobs attended the Academy Awards, too, by the way (the former Pixar CEO is still a major shareholder of Disney). In case you missed it, what do you think of the TV spot? Will you buy an iPad on April 3?

  • Commercial is good.. though won’t be buying it on April 3rd since it is getting released later in April for Canada :-(

    i have the smaller version … LOL … not multimedia function: one app at a time only … i saw some ‘rumoured’ prototypes that looked much better … i won’t be buying this … my 32gb ipod touch is plenty for me … as i’d hate to see the costs of replacing a cracked screen on this chubby guy …

    Have never had any faith in advertisements, commercials do not induce an immediate want to buy, rather, prove it. The iSchlock is an oversized iTouch with not really much bang for the buck. How disappointing, with all the time Apple had to get it right, they still missed the mark (or is that Marc, lol), and badly I suspect. It would be interesting to see the sales figures since the US release.

    The enTourage eDGe has far more to offer and probably at a better price point. A side by each feature for feature would be very interesting eh Marc, You’re the man?

  • Awesome commercial! I didn’t know they were airing yet. I’m getting one on April 3rd (developing Preschool Apps for it :-) btw, it’s SOOOOO much more than a large ipod touch…think about the difference between a pocket knife and a sword, or a pamphlet and a book, they are similar but one i more than just a bigger version of the other.

    Mmmm . . . nice commercial. Solid. But I can say for sure that, by living in Canada, I won’t be buying this iPad on April 3rd (LOL). To expand, though, I doubt I’d be buying device ever. For me, Apple didn’t quite meet the mark by creating such a lightweight and fluffy ‘consumer’ product. I would have preferred something a fair bit more robust, along the lines of, say, the Modbook. Sorry, Apple — I already have an iPod Touch.

    Ah yes, Apple Canada confirmed with Sync it won’t be available in Canada by April 3, but rather, later that month, nor is it available for preorder just yet.

    Estimated price point in Canada might be the greatest barrier for entry for most folks. Will wait until next generation of slimmer systems with missing features is released. Competition is also heating up in this market segment. However, can’t wait until I can buy my daily paper or magazine of choice using such a medium. Such emerging technologies are definitely the savior and revitalization of the publishing industry.

    I won’t be buying it. That thing is huge. I dont have anywhere to put it. Anyone who buys this deserves to lose their money.
