Microsoft demos real-time voice translation.
In the continual search for unified communications and workflow, language and speech recognition is one area that is slowly becoming less of an obstacle.
While computers still have a ways to go before they grasp all the nuances and idiosyncrasies of human language, the algorithms and interpretations are quickly learning and becoming more accurate.
Google Voice (still not available in Canada) already does voicemail to text transcription and Google demoed a live translation service a few weeks back. Now, it’s Microsoft’s turn:
Another great video, this one only a concept, is Microsoft’s vision of the future in computing. It involves a lot of touch-interaction and unified messaging.

In the early ‘70s, Popular Science promised that I’d be flying my own personal spaceship or at least flying my car to work by the Nineties, BS eh!
I really like learning languages (10 thus far) so what I’d really like for Christmas is a Predator Drone that shoots stupid people who magically appear when driving. lol but really.
