Can you guess what’s the most popular mobile phone?
According to a recent U.S. report published by Nielsen, Apple’s iPhone 3G is the no. 1 mobile device of choice among users in 2009.

In this recent Nielsen report out of the U.S., the iPhone 3G has captured a 4 percent usage share, besting the BlackBerry 8300 Series at 3.7 percent in second place.
That said, Research in Motion also held the seventh and tenth spot on the list with its 9530 Series (1.4 percent share) and 8100 Series smartphones (1.2 percent), respectively.
Motorola’s once-trendy Razr V3 phone ranked third overall, at 2.3 percent, while LG held the fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth spot with its VX9100 (2.1 percent), Voyager (1.7 percent), VX9700 (1.3 percent) and Vu series phones (at 1.3 percent).
Samsung’s SPH-M540 ranked sixth at 1.5 percent.
Readers, are you surprised at these results? Where are the Android, Windows and Palm phones? Do you think Canada has comparable market share patterns?

What really surprises me is that a smartphone – and a very expensive one at that – is the number one *phone* in the US. I would have expected a cheaper (and likely non-smart) phone to be number one. Obviously Apple has another massive hit on their hands!
Goes to show you where American’s priorities are when they’re complaining about being in a recessiong and thousands of jobs are being lost. Keep buying those expensive toys and piling up debt people. When it’s all said and done, the U.S. will be another “3rd world” nation.
