YouTube now offers Safety Mode
You now have more control over what your children view on YouTube thanks to their new Safety Mode. Check out their demo video and tell us what you think.
Earlier this week, YouTube launched a new filtering feature called Safety Mode. You can check out their demo video on how to use it below. In a nutshell, you scroll to the bottom of a YouTube page and click on where is says Safety Mode is off to turn the features on. When Safety Mode is on, it will be more difficult for your kids to come across inappropriate videos. Additionally, bad words in the comments section will be replaced with asterisks.
Of course, no filter is fool-proof and kids can find ways of getting past your security measures. In a different post, I shared how I handle my son’s YouTube experiences. Will you be turning YouTube’s Safety Mode on?

There is a thing called safety mode: It’s called the user-based flagging system that needs someone to log in to an over 18 account. If people weren’t so gosh darned lazy they wouldn’t really need to set up this so-called “safety mode”.
Great idea unless the child has their own account.
