We desperately need an app that will run in the background ALWAYS and OVERRIDE the volume or mute settings and emit a clearly audible sound, for location purposes. Whistling or clapping should be just one option. You should also be able to log into a website and send a signal to your iphone and also be able to see it on a map. Perhaps, Apple should build this into the OS, and have the map locator on their website.

My $30 cordless phone is much more advanced in this regard than the $700 apple product, LOL!

Also, the phone is the perfect place to put door opening abilities. There should be an IR and wireless radio transmitter compatible with everything from garage door openers, TV remotes, to your front door.

You're right...

No multitasking on the iPhone. This means that if you don't manually activate the app each time you're finished with your iPhone, it won't work.

I think this app is useless until the iPhone can run apps in the background.

Paul, good point - however, I can see where this app. would come in handy for those who of us who have disconnected their land line in favour of their cell phone. I haven't had a land line in a few years; and when I'm home alone, and it's lost, this app would come in very handy.

Why wouldn't you just call the phone? Can't see that an app would replace this time tested recovery method.

Hi Simon,

The developer says it does continue to run when the iPhone is on standby (screen goes black but it's still on) but if you power it off then it won't work, no.

I haven't downloaded it yet (or if would've been a review), but you raise a good question!

Hey Marc, cool app, but how do you make sure it's running when you end up leaving your phone somewhere? I thought there was no way to run apps in the background on an iPhone?
