Classic Activision games land on GOG.com
Great computer games never die – they’re just reborn at Good ‘Ol Games (www.gog.com), a website devoted to resurrecting classic computer games.
If you’ve never been to Good ‘Ol Games, close to 200 DRM (digital rights management)-free games are available for digital download — for either $5.99 or $9.99 a piece — including the likes of Fallout, Duke Nukem 3D, Prince of Persia, Myst: Masterpiece Edition and Heroes of Might and Magic III. All titles are guaranteed to work with today’s hardware – in some cases requiring a DOS emulator (included), such as DOSBox.
GOG.com recently announced it has inked a deal with Activision to bring back a number of celebrated games from the publisher’s catalog, including 1993′s Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, an extraordinary point-and-click adventure game penned by Jane Jensen; 2001′s Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, a unique, open-ended role-playing game; and 2000′s Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption.
All 3 titles are $5.99 apiece, and as with other GOG.com titles, they also include bonus content such as PDF manuals, high-res wallpapers, avatars and more.
“Signing the agreement with Activision is the biggest thing that’s happened at GOG.com since the actual announcement of the service,” says managing director Adam Oldakowski, in a company statement. “We’re even happier to bring Activision games back to gamers, as GOG.com is the only place right now where you can grab the announced titles.”
Readers, do you have a soft spot for these classic PC games (as I do)? Or do you prefer these modern console games? Both?

Great! I always want to try out Myst and the rest.
