Canadian singles encouraged to ‘Flitter’ this Valentine’s Day
Flirting + Twitter = Flitter? Yep, FastLife – the world’s largest “speed dating” service for singles – is throwing Valentine’s Day events in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa on Sat. Feb. 13, and it’s B.Y.O.S. (Bring Your Own Smartphone). Here’s why…
How much can you flirt in 140 characters or less?
Singles age 21 to 39 are invited to a FastLife event in a number of Canadian cities on Saturday, February 13, put on by the most renowned speed dating service in the world.
Bring $22 for admission and your iPhone, Blackberry or other smartphone, because when you get in the door you’re given your own Twitter account (if you don’t have one already) and a number tag to wear. When you spot someone you like, it’s time to micro-flirt. Be sure to end your tweet with #Flitter and your message will appear live on the big screen.
Example: Hey #121, u r 2 hot. c u @ the bar? #200 #Flitter
If desired, “Flitterers” can tweet anonymously, too.
“In this age of social networking and with the growing popularity of Twitter, we thought it would be a fun and legitimate way to get singles to flirt on a whole other level,” said Justin Parfitt, FastLife founder and CEO. “Flitter lets people get creative while they micro-flirt and is a fabulously modern way for singles to meet new people, date, build confidence and hopefully even find love in the process.”
The events will be held in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa.
FastLife has also launched a contest to find four “sassy” singles to become official twitter correspondents at the February 13 parties. If you are single, live in any of the cities that will host the Feb. 13 events and want to win a complimentary pass (plus a swag bag!), simply tweet your wittiest “choose me” Valentine’s message to @FastLifedotCA.
All party attendees will also receive a two movie passes to a screening of Valentine’s Day (courtesy of Warner Brothers Canada), while an Apple iPod Touch is the first prize for the ”most flirtatious Flitterer of the evening.” Other prizes include spa massage gift certificates.

Why the ageism, there are many of us on the plus side of 39 who can text with the best this should be open to all who are single with fingers. lol

I know everyone seems surprised that there should be a defined age range for a singles event, but having now organized over ten thousand singles parties I can guarantee you that an event open to all ages is seriously weird… And looking and feeling less than your age is like being a better than average lover or driver. Most people think it applies to them.

Understandable.I wouldn’t want to be the only 50+
person at an event like this. It’s a good idea to
seperate the ages.Just give us “old farts” an
event of our own.

Good point, Phil, I wondered the same thing when I wrote “age 21 to 39.”

Hello Marc,
I love your segment on CTV and in Cineplex..big fan…had a question for you about Ipod Touch ..I recently lost my 16GB nano in SFO Airport on my way back to BC..so now I am on the hunt for bying another one and I wasn’t really into the whole giant gadgets ..I liked my nano it was small cool and light..but it was maxed out and wihtout camera..so I know that the new nano’s do have camera but I needed to be up-to-date with technology and therefore decided to go with the Touch but as I understand it it also does not yet have a camera…many sites and online bloggs claim that Apple is releasing the new Touch in Spring 2010..but I wanted to obtain the concrete answer from the “Saltzman” lol..for me you are the most trusted source in technology..lol
I also had one other tiny question. Recently I was in Dubai and over there I saw these very cool earphones thate would hang on the back of your ear and had no wires.. I guess they were bluetooth..but I can’t recal the brand name or model..(I know I’m an idiot)..can you help or suggest any models or make ..by the way I think I saw the same earphone worn by ryan reynolds in the begining of the movie “Definetly Maybe”
Please accept my appologies in advance if this is not the right place to post my question; as I am not a regular of this site.
kind regards,
James

I also thought by age group; my youtube vid’s most popular by age group are a surprising 45- 64 I thought the 30 somethings would absolutely dominate.
Sounds like a fun time for “Flitterers”
Have you tweeted about the event? Added a Twitter Bubble?

Hi James,
Thank you for the questions and kind words!
Yes, Apple is *rumoured* to refresh their iPod touch line this spring or early summer, which includes video capture on the iPod touch. Note: this is unconfirmed but widespreade speculation in the industry. Altetrnatively, the iPod nano has surprisngly good video but to me it’s all about the amazing App Store so I’d hold off a bit.
Re: the wireless headphones, many companies make Bluetooth stereo headsets including ones with a behind-the-neck design.

While they’re not behind-the-neck, here’s a noise-cancelling, wireless pair I recently tried out from Nokia:

Thanks so much Marc for the promt response.
the 1st earphone from motorola is actually pretty close to the one I had seen in Dubai. except the one I had seen had the ear part that hanged behind the ear..but thanks again.
as for the Touch I will wait as per your recommendation ..spring is anyways just around the corner..since Apple is as you said *rumoured* to release it in spring 2010.
