Birds Eye flaunts “World’s Smallest Tracking Device”
Birds Eye is offering a new product that can let you know of the holder’s location in near real-time.
Ever wanted to keep tabs on your pet’s whereabouts without venturing out into the backyard? Maybe you have a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and wanted to make sure they won’t wander away and get lost. Birds Eye may have an answer for you, in the form of its Global Tracker GPRS.
Basically it’s a tiny (apparently the world’s smallest according to Birds Eye) tracking device that can be monitored by a smartphone (running the special software, no doubt) and can report its location to within 15 feet. Updates are pushed out every two minutes. The minuscule device is about the size (6.25 cm long) and weight (85 grams) of a pager or a set of car keys and can be attached to clothing using the carrying pouch included.
Birds Eye says the reason for the Global Tracker’s apparent superb accuracy is the fact that it makes use of GPRS (dubbed “Anytime, Anywhere Tracking Technology” by the firm,) a tracking tech that calls on the power of both standard GPS systems and cellphone tower positioning. Birds Eye calls it “the most accurate and reliable tracking data ever”, so it’s gotta be good. Battery life should be quite long as well.
A clever little product indeed, and certainly one with many different uses (and abuses.) Boyfriends could somehow check to see if their girlfriend is cheating on them by secretly tracking them using the Global Tracker GPRS (okay, maybe that’s going a bit too far…) or you could attach the device to your dog and track where it goes. Anyway pricing options can be seen here.
