I’m done with Facebook! …and I feel really good about it. I had it for 8 months, hated ever moment of it, wondered why I even bothered to sign up, just closed it last week and never looked back. I feel better to actually get back on track with my real life now!

I enjoy being on facebook, and I am an honest person that will not post discriminating posting that can hurt me or anyone of my friends or contacts on facebook. I only worry with confronting with viruses issues when connecting on facebook, because it happened once to me and my computer has gone bonkers this was last year. I enjoy on facebook playing games it is fun and relaxing, besides the contacts I get while I am on this network. I have been connected also with twitter, and presently with Linkedin due to job search referred to me by job search team I attend to encourage us to find ways to find a job, but I hardly go on the site. I am also with My Space. I just need you to clarify me more about the “Web 2.0 Suicide Machine automatically deletes files” what do I have to watch for so my personal life is safe regarding the social activities I share with some of these sites ?

facebook- can’t say enough bad things about it. Old flames trying to contact you or your husband. I know so many relationships that have literally ended over facebook! That is insane!
and who are these people that comment on every-little-thing they do all day?

Seriously who cares oh my GAWD

“like high school coming back to haunt me” is exactly right and yet people are all re connecting with old high school people they haven’t talked to in years. My friend is on there and she says all of our old grade school friends are asking if I’m on facebook! Haven’t talked to these people in two decades do I really feel like catching up on all of that? I don’t understand the addiction. I’ve been on there once and I got sooooooo bored. Hope the whole phenomenon ends soon.
blech who says technology is good? Not always
don’t even get me started on cell phones…..

I keep waffling back and forth on this time-sucking social networking stuff. I kinda like the good old days when you could put up a website and not have this debate – do I or don’t I? I don’t mind twitter (even I can cope with communications 140 characters or less), but I think I have an anti-facebook affliction that makes me flee the site within a minute or two. For some reason it just feels icky – like high school coming back to haunt me… I would have loved the suicide machine a few months ago. I had an assistant unfriend everyone for me – it took her 7 minutes to do something I’d been putting off for a year…

I never was a fan of any of these networks. I knew some people who spent hours every day on Facebook, but they never come out any more. Never got into Twitter, it just seemed like a place for silly people to say silly things. I joined LinkedIn when I was job searching, but when I got a new job it wasn’t thanks to LinkedIn. I haven’t even posted a picture. Had a discussion with Jeremy Phan a couple of weeks ago regarding diacritricals and how to turn them on/off and joined his LinkedIn group just because he asked.

As someone with a widespread online presence, I’m always very careful to control what I post. It’s a delicate balancing act between living in a connected, online world and maintaining personal privacy.

Facebook recently had to comply with Canada’s stricter privacy laws and adjusted its settings accordingly.

Bravo and Kudos to whoever came up with this much-needed concept, watch the video “Take the 2.0 Suicide Tour.” The guy is dead on, yes pun intended.

Thanks Jeremy this is an important issue (overall) needing more exposure with public pressure leading to strong Federal laws to force compliance of ALL websites to immediately purge their systems of a user’s profile. There also has to be far more personal accountability for those who wilfully put their whole lives on-line, thinking that there will be little to no consequences, not so.
