Official Lego-encased electronics coming soon
Who wouldn’t want a Lego MP3 player? Or a Lego camera? Or…
Lego has become a huge fad. You don’t have to be a little kid to love the massive line of building toys anymore, with people posting stuff like Guitar Hero-lookalikes and Brickfilms on Youtube, along with epic building contests all over the world, among others. But if you wanted an alarm clock or similar device encased in Lego bricks, you would have to build it yourself.
Lego’s recent partnership with Digital Blue looks to change that, however. Soon we should have stuff like digital cameras, video cameras, MP3 players, walkie-talkies, and other products on the market, all encased in non-removable Lego. Pricing isn’t too bad either – ranging from $19.99-$59.99.

Probably the most interesting two devices in the lineup are the aforementioned MP3 player and a boombox. The boombox is basically a massive (10x scale) blue 6-er brick. You would turn the knobs on top to change the volume and tuning for the radio function, which is a nice touch. You also get a built-in CD player, an AUX input jack, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1.1″ display with backlight, a telescopic antenna, two 1w speakers, and an option to either run the ‘box off AC or via six C batteries.

Then there’s the MP3 player, which either comes in standard multicolour bricks or in shades of pink. The bricks on these things are normal-size, meaning you can supposedly integrate the players into your Lego creations. 2GB of internal memory, support for MP3 and WMA formats, a colour LCD screen, a mini-USB connector, a battery good for eight hours of playtime and earbuds are all present as well, though you can doubt the earbuds are shaped like Lego bricks.
You can see Digital Blue’s page for the Lego electronics here. You guys think this is a good idea?

A site to go to in Canada would be nice, the one from the U.S. wants $60.00 to ship a $30.00 item.
Saw these at Toys ‘R’ Us on the weekend (in Toronto, Richmond Hill to be specific). These rock! Can’t remember the price though.
