New Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 handheld will make you go blind
Fujitsu’s new 5.6″ handheld PC packs an impressive screen resolution and multitouch capabilities inside of 500 grams.
Fujitsu is a company known for making durable and well-made computers, and this trend will hopefully continue with its new LifeBook UH900, which looks to somehow compete with Sony’s Vaio P series of netbooks. Only the UH900 isn’t really a netbook – more like a MID, or handheld PC.
The LifeBook UH900′s design is similar to the Vaio P, except instead of an 8″ LCD on the Sony, you get a smaller 5.6″ panel with a large bezel on the left and right sides. With multitouch. And a screen resolution of – wait for it – 1366×768 pixels. Read that again – the UH900 has a 1366×768 resolution on its tiny 5.6″ LCD display. The first time I read this I was like “WTF?!” I have no idea how someone is gonna read text displayed on this thing, let alone scroll a 2mm wide scrollbar with their very fingertips. (OK, I’m exaggerating on that one, but still.) Fujitsu gets points for thinking about those 10″ netbook users struggling with 1024×600 pixel resolutions, though.
Anyway moving on, you get a 1.6Ghz Atom Z530 processor, 2GB of memory, and a 62GB SSD, along with Bluetooth, 3.5G mobile broadband, a stereo mic, a webcam and Windows 7. The UH900 has a full QWERTY keyboard and measures 20.4cm x 10.65cm x 2.38cm. Five touch buttons sit next to the screen, with three user-configurable and the others offering one-touch resolution changes and Fujitsu’s special ECO mode for more battery life (among others.) The whole thing weighs just 500 grams – making it ideal for someone with a frequent on-the-go lifestyle.
Availability is supposed to start in January of next year, so there’s a good chance that we’ll see the LifeBook UH900 at CES (the Consumer Electronics Show.) Stay tuned.

I like the fact that the thing is smaller – but I think the author is correct. I think we are at the point now where smaller has gotten as small as it can get.
Trust me guys, Size does sometimes matter. lol
