How to automatically rotate a Windows 7 wallpaper
Turn your desktop wallpaper into a slideshow or see a different image every day you turn on a computer.
Last week, I purchased a new laptop that runs Windows 7. In the course of playing around with my new computer, I discovered a feature I’ve wanted to see in Windows for a while – automatic rotation of mulitple wallpapers. If you’ve ever wanted to load a new wallpaper every 30 seconds, hour, or day, you’ll be happy to know that Windows 7 has built-in this feature. Here’s how to set-up a Windows 7 PC to automatically change a wallpaper.
- Press Start > Control Panel
- Under the “Appearance and Personalization” section, click “Change desktop background”
- Navigate to the folder that stores your wallpapers and select the images that you wish to rotate (hover over the image and check/uncheck).
- Select the intervals you wish to rotate images under the “Change picture every:” section. Shuffle will randomize the images rather than display them in order.
Save changes and enjoy your new wallpaper carousel. Keep in mind that this can affect battery life, so if you are using Windows 7 on a laptop, consider using less frequent updates or disabling the change when on battery mode.
Windows XP and Vista users can perform similar functions with free applications available to them. Wallpaper Juggler grabs wallpapers from popular sites like Interfacelift and WallpaperStock, then rotates the images for you. Windows 7 is also compatible with this program.
