Dollar Daze: Headphone Splitter for iPods, laptops

Dollar Daze, a regular feature on Sympatico’s Sync blog, profiles a recommended gadget from your local dollar store. If you want to prevent the “Are we there yet?” from the backseat, consider this $1 gadget.

Dual Headphone JackTwo kids, one iPod. What to do?

At your local dollar store you can pick up a 3.5mm headphone jack that lets two users listen to music or a TV show at the same time.

Simply plug this splitter into your MP3 player (or portable DVD player, laptop or smartphone) and two sets of headphones or earbuds can be inserted.

Be forewarned, however, the volume dips down a bit so you might need to turn it up when two headphones are plugged in at the same time.

And hey, for $1 plus tax, it’s not a bad gizmo to keep in your vehicle’s glove compartment for lengthy car rides or road trips. I found this one at an Everything for a Dollar store in the north end of Toronto.

Find any good tech deals at your local dollar store? Do tell!
