MySpace refocuses on music to improve website, recapture audience
MySpace is re-shifting its focus back to the music industry, but will users give the website another chance?
Dear Internet User,
It’s me, MySpace. I know we haven’t spoken in a while, but I just wanted to say that I miss you. Please don’t close the browser window! I know you’ve moved on to other social networks, but that’s okay. I’m no longer trying to compete with Facebook; I just want to win you back.
I’ve changed, sweetie. I know you’ve heard that before, but I mean it this time. Look at all the things I’m doing different today:
I lost weight. I cut MySpace Jobs, Classifieds, and a bunch of the other services that I know you didn’t want. Now when you come to MySpace, there will be fewer products distracting you and more of a focus on the things you want. I’m not back to basics just yet, but I’m working with my managers to decide what else I can drop.
I’m all about the music again! I’m going to focus strictly on what first brought us together. Remember that awesome band that I introduced to you and all of those great songs that we shared? We can recapture the magic. I know we can. When you visit me, you’ll see that I’m in the process of making a commitment to promoting music more often.
I’ve grown enough to deliver music videos. Music is what made you love me, so I hope that being a new hub for music videos will bring us even closer. Yeah, I know you can see videos at YouTube, but I’ll show them to you legally, in high-quality, and in an organized manner. The new music video section at MySpace has music videos, exclusive premiers, and clips from live performances.
The MySpace that you left for other networks isn’t the MySpace that’s before you today. I’m slimmer, more responsive, and desperate to recapture the magic that made you want to spend so much time with me. I want to the MySpace you fell in love with long ago. What do you say? Will you give me another chance so we can recapture the magic?
Your Love,
MySpace.com

Great video, and touching love letter from myspace. Who will win the war?
People will get tired of Twitter and Facebook one day and start looking for something else, something different. Nothing last forever.
I think people today are just experimenting what is nice and what is not, what is convenient and what’s not. At the end of the day, the one who excels will remain.
