Create 3D buildings for Google Earth with Building Maker
Google’s new website allows you to easily make 3D buildings to be integrated into the company’s Google Earth software.

I’m sure you’ve all heard about or use Google Earth. One of the program’s main problems is the fact that, despite ultra-high-resolution imagery, the “Earth” portrayed in the program is, quite simply, flat. While Google has since introduced a “3D Buildings” option into Google Earth, a vast number of buildings are still rendered in 2D.
That’s where the new Google Building Maker (and you, of course) come in. Basically it is a website (a plugin version of Google’s SketchUp program) that allows you to help design and create the 3D buildings or landmarks for Google Earth. You select a city, then use Google’s photos to make a building in 3D. When you’re done, you’d save your building and it’d be up to Google whether to accept it or not. If you’re successful, this will lead to millions of people seeing your building.
It is completely free to use and have fun with. The service is only available to 50 cities at the moment, but the company plans to expand this in the near future.
You can check out Google Building Maker here. I imagine all the major landmarks and skyscrapers will be taken very quickly.

I guess I am confused on the google acceptance process. It seems if google doent like what we come up with or has the technology to produce a better image, why not just skip to that step and forgo the rest of the “artists” out there.
