Nintendo web browser free (again)
Mamma mia! Nintendo Wii owners who dished out 500 Wii Points (about $5) for access to the Wii Internet Channel will get a free virtual console NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) title, worth the same value, in late October.
In case you’ve been living under a pokadotted mushroom over the past couple of years, Nintendo first offered up its web browser as a free download to Nintendo Wii owners.
Then, in July 2007, the Japanese gaming giants began charging 500 Wii Points (about $5) for the Opera-based Wii Internet Channel after the free “beta” period ended.
Today, however, Nintendo announced the browser is now free again on the Wii Shop Channel, so download away folks.
Gamers who spent 500 Wii Points on the Wii Internet Channel will be able to choose from one of a few NES titles late next month, such as Super Mario Bros. 3 (my recommendation!), Castlevania and Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa.
The Wii’s browser also supports the latest Adobe Flash Lite plug-in for streaming video from sites such as YouTube (though at lower quality than a personal computer).

My son will be all over that! He missed the “beta” period only by days, so had to dish out the bucks for it. Thanks for the info, Marc!
