Woofer: A site for long-winded tweeters?
Don’t like how Twitter limits you to 140 characters or less? A site called Woofer may be the solution…or are the creators barking mad? From microblogging to macroblogging, will it catch on or is Woofer a dog of an idea?

Unlike Twitter, which restricts each tweet to 140 characters, a new site called Woofer restricts you from posting until you reach 1400 characters.
Although Woofer’s website looks a heck of a lot like Twitter and the idea is the same only opposite (if that makes any sense), the website clearly states that they are not associated with Twitter and that Woofer is simply a novelty website. But will it catch on?

What do you think? Do you see any personal or professional advantages to Woofer? I suppose you could tweet a woof if you had a lot to say. Personally, I don’t think I’ll be woofing without more persuasion. Facebook and Twitter are enough for this busy girl!
Oh, and if you’re wondering how long 1400 characters is – this post wouldn’t pass as a woof, as it’s only 1072 characters (title included)!

thanks! i’ll check this out.
Interesting….but woofer is a play on tweeter….not a dog. A stereo speaker contains both a woofer and a tweeter….the tweeter reproducing the high frequency sound and the woofer reproducing the low frequency sound. This has nothing to do with barking or a dog. DUH!!!
Nice article – but I should have read it more carefully before trying Woofer!
I thought it was a MAXIMUM of 1400 words, not a minimum. My first attempt at writing a woof was an embarrassment as a result – http://tiny.cc/eqmUt
I can see a version of Twitter offering a 1400 character maximum working, but not a MINIMUM.
Now I understand why the developers describe Woofer as just a bit of fun.
