When downloading first came out you would only have the occasional song that would have a virus on it. Now a days you can't download songs with out having a virus or spyware attached to at least 1 out every 2 or 3 songs. Where are these viruses and spyware programs coming from? Could it be the recording industry itself, to try to stop free downloading? Is it not very illegal to knowingly to put out viruses and spyware on purpose? Where the lawsuits when the recording industry does that?

Musicians should be paid for their work. Why do people think they have the right to take that away from them? Why don't you walk onto a farmer's field and start picking his fruit and share it with everybody?

It is an unfortunate statement on our values that we get so worked up and upset about musicians having their materials shared freely and perhaps losing out on becoming extremely wealthy as the result of this "theft." Musicians should be paid more than teachers, fire-fighters and doctors?

Telling your kids not to download music is like my mother trying to tell me back in the 80s not to record songs off the radio. Ridiculous.

Parents should be teaching their children quite simply that if they like a song or two off an album, then go get them....if they want the WHOLE album, save their money and BUY it. Downloading one or two singles from an album via peer-to-peer is no different than racing to the cassette deck and recording off the radio back in the day.

I am a HUGE suppoter of the music industry and generally buy one of two CDs every week....and many of those CDs I would have never have bought if I hadn't downloaded a song or two for free and realized how much I liked them. Downloading songs is an excellent tool that can increase album sales if more people were like me. In the meantime, parents should be instilling proper values in their children...something so lacking these days on all levels.

It doesn't help that parents themselves think that downloading movies for free to shut their kids up is a good thing, nevermind music.

Respect people, that's all this is about. Respect the artist. Just as the artist should respect the consumer by having no issue if someone downloads one or two songs to decide whether the album is worth buying or not.

I am not denying that the internet is a great tool to promote music for both signed and unsigned bands. And if a band CHOOSES to give away their music for free because they get no airply then great! Personally I think streaming is the best way to promote. You can listen to it as many times as you want. And if you want it on your ipod then you will have to pay for it. Whether it is 99 cents or the full price of a cd.

real is no matter how much a artist says they make music because they love to make music they are really in it for the money. The amount of money made for singing is rediculose. yet they are the one's complaining about file share because they don't get there share. otherwise there would be no problem.
