Sony readying Canadian launch of HD Net cam
The Flip just debuted in Canada, joining the likes of Kodak and Sanyo in the growing “pocket camcorder” or “Net camcorder” family — you know, those small Flash memory-based video recorders that let you easily upload to sites like YouTube. Sync has learned Sony is also bringing its Webbie HD Snap camera this month.
The Flip just debuted in Canada, joining the likes of Kodak and Sanyo in the growing "pocket camcorder" or "Net camcorder" family — you know, those small Flash memory-based video recorders that let you easily upload to sites like YouTube. Sync has learned Sony is also bringing its Webbie HD Snap camera this month.
Available by the end of June, Sony's Webbie HD (model # MHS-PM1) will launch under the name Mobile HD Snap, a $229 high-definition pocket camcorder that can record in 720p MP4 video quality and also snap 5-megapixel stills.
The unit will feature a unique 270-degree swivel lens and easy upload directly to the web via its integrated USB connector and software, linking users to sites such as YouTube, and others. Keep the 0.9-inch thick unit snapped into a PC and it'll recharge the Lithium-Ion battery.
Look for it soon at SonyStyle.ca, at Sony Style stories and other electronics retailers.

It’s amazing how fast we are getting in this information age. Right now, anyone can upload videos and pictures from their cell phones and add that onto facebook, Youtube, etc.
Now, these cool little cameras will allow people to upload higher quality video in a moments notice. Imagine what this pocket-camcorder is going to catch in the wild world we live in. I can already anticipate some issues facing this new product – not in the product itself, but how it will be used.
It’s amazing, and kind of exciting.
