Why work twice as hard for the same outcome?

Windows Vista owners looking to cut their efforts in half can change their mouse settings from a double-click to a single-click — such as when launching a program from an icon on the desktop or opening a file in Windows Explorer.

It's a bit easier to do this in Windows XP, but you can do this in Windows Vista.

Click Start, then Control Panel and if you're not using the "Classic View" already, switch to this view on the left-side of the screen.

Now select "Folder Options" and check off where it says "Single-click to open an item." Click Apply, followed by OK.

That's it!
