Thanks John I saw that greenfinders before but it only works on blackberry and iphone. What I'm looking for is a standalone road map gps that can double as a golf map gps. One that talks back at you would be funny. You could have two settings one that was supportive like "good shot blah blah blah" or the buddy one so when you start walking in the woods to find your ball it can bad mouth you like your friends would " back in the woods again did you bring your axe?" LOL

Sheri. You need to buy one that is specifically designed for motorcycles as they are waterproof and vibration proof as skidoos and quads would expose the unit to both.

We bought a TomTom, and absolutely love it. It's VERY user-friendly, was reasonably priced, and has many options (right down to picking a male or female voice, British or other accent, different language options, choice of how to reach your destination - fastest or shortest route, and others). You can also purchase & download additional maps for other countries if you plan on travelling & want to take your unit with you.

My only issue is: ALL the portable or standalone GPS units claim to be pre-loaded with North America maps. Last time I checked, this SHOULD include Mexico! Never does....

Hi Mark, You hit the mark. Standalone GPS system is a wise investment. Garmin 360 which I have, have save me a lot of time and specially in GTA when they implement banning the use of cellphone while driving. Most of the cellphones are equipped with blu-tooth technology and this GPS is an alternative way of answering phone calls while driving – thus keeping your hands on the steering wheel.

My wife bought me a Garmin 255W for christmas. I wanted one but she thought it was a waste of money. After getting I have to pry it out of her hands now. We went to Toronto for the AC/DC concert and we hit traffic and it steered us around it all and only lost a couple of minutes off our arrival time, very impressed it did this. Very easy to use (my wife even said so and she is technology illeterate) nice screen accurate and can even use it on a bike or walking by changing the setup which is easy to do. I recommend the 255W or 265W with bluetooth for handsfree talking.
