iPhone and iPod touch users in Ontario, check this out
A few months ago we wrote about a $10 Toronto-based traffic app for the iPhone and iPod touch called Toronto Traffic, which taps into roadside cameras on highways to show you what’s going on at that location. We found another one that’s Ontario-wide and only 99 cents.

Jason Clara, a self-proclaimed “hobbyist” iPhone application developer, has built an impressive tool for drivers called ONTrafView.
As the name suggests, it’s a traffic viewer for all of Ontario. Specifically, you can swipe your finger to access more than 300 cameras across the province to get an up-to-the-minute view of the traffic situation at, say, 401 and Avenue Rd. in Toronto.
Highways covered in or near the Greater Toronto Area include 400, 401, 403, 404, 410, 427, Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Blvd. and Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW). In Ottawa? ONTrafView has more than 90 cameras for the city and surrounding areas. There are also cameras for Sarnia (402), London (401), Niagara (QEW, 405, tunnels) and more.
You can add only the views that matter to you, based on your daily commute – such as driving from Burlington to downtown Toronto and back again. Plus, this app has a feature called "Only Close" that uses the iPhone’s GPS to only show cameras within a 5km radius. Naturally, this feature won’t work on the iPod touch, but all others will.
There are also traffic flow images, which uses a colour-coded graphic to show congestion on key routes.
Pretty cool, huh? An certainly not bad for only $0.99 cents.

The author of this app is also very quick to respond to emails and has added tonnes of features based on user requests.

Hi this is Jason the developer of Ontario Traffic View. Thanks for the review Marc, and also thanks ArcAngel for the comment. I have put a lot of work into this app and I am glad people like it. For anyone that has any suggestions or question about the app feel free to email me at eggwhitestudios@gmail.com. I have also now released a Lite version that only has images for the DVP. So if you want to try before you buy you can get that version. Or if all you use is the DVP you get it for free.
Also, for people in British Columbia, I now have BC Traffic View. It has the same features as Ontario Traffic View except for the GPS support.
