Travel to the U.S. much? Trying to watch your waistline? While it might be tempting to opt for a fast food chain, a new — and completely free — app called GoodFoodNearYou is billed as the first mobile service to search for nutrition info at restaurants and other establishments throughout the United States.
Simply download this free app to your BlackBerry or iPhone and when you're getting hungry for a bite, GoodFoodNearYou shows you the lowest calorie item at the 20 closest restaurants near you. You can even click on a search result to see the full nutrition info and a map to the location.
And talk about specifics. Along with lowest calories, you can also sort results by closest distance, lowest carbohydrates or lowest fat.
Currently, GoodFoodNearYou delivers menu nutrition info for more than 220,000 U.S. restaurant locations. Over time, the company says it will add more local mom and pop favourites, health food and specialty food restaurants.
Users can also visit the website and use the pull-down menus to find good eats near (and for) you.
