BioWare, the EA-owned Edmonton, Alberta-based games maker, has confirmed it has established a second team in Quebec to help work on the sequel, due out early in 2010 for multiple consoles and the PC.
The 30-person team, which is likely to grow as the game continues development, will work out of the nearly five-year-old EA Montreal studios. As posted on the BioWare.com website, job listings call for Level Designer, Environment Artist and Senior Environment Artist.
"BioWare is looking for world-class art, animation and design staff in the Montreal studio," confirmed Matt Atwood, senior public relations manager for BioWare, in an interview. "Our assessment is that Montreal is the right place for us to expand due to the excellent creative talent pool in the market and the positive business environment."
This Montreal-based Mass Effect 2 team might eventually help develop other upcoming BioWare role-playing games including Dragon Age: Origins and the massively multiplayer online epic, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The EA Montreal studio currently employs roughly 700 people.
