No, Sony doesn’t want you to use the back of your digital camera to surf the Net. But some cafes and other businesses require a password before logging their wireless hotspot. If you can’t enter the password, you can’t connect and upload your photos.
The new Cyber-shot DSC-G3 ($499) won’t hit any such roadblock. By using the bundled stylus or your fingertip on the camera’s 3.5-inch touchscreen, simply type in any security codes or login information in order to upload your memories while in a wireless network.
One-touch icons for popular photo and video sharing sites are also available, such as Google’s Picasa or YouTube. Other options include Shutterfly, Photobucket and DailyMotion.
For our U.S. readers, the G3 also includes complimentary AT&T Wi-Fi access to Sony’s Easy Upload Home Page for three years (until Jan. 31, 2012).
Available now, the all-black 10.1-megapixel point-and-shoot camera features a 4x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens, integrated 4GB of memory (which you can expand with Memory Stick Duo cards), image stabilization, and face recognition.
