Slide_2_pcBring the past into the present (and future) with the Ion Slide 2 PC Slide Converter ($119.99; ion-audio.com), a computer peripheral that makes it easy to digitize old slides and negatives.

Available exclusively at The Source by Circuit City locations, the Ion Slide 2 PC Slide Converter is a clever and easy way to preserve fading memories for future generations.

Simply connect this USB-based peripheral to a Windows-based PC and the speedy 5 megapixel scanner can transfer 35mm negatives and slides into digital images. It might sound laborious if you have a shoebox full of them, but keep in mind you only need to do it once and think of all the memories you’re preserving so they never fade — and now can be easily emailed to family and friends or posted to a photo sharing website.

Additional features of the Ion Slide 2 PC Slide Converter include fixed-focus range, automatic exposure, colour balance and software to import, organize and edit the digital files.

Have you tried it? If it truly is the awesome little device that I've been waiting for, then…Santa are you reading this?

Purchased unit from Circuit City 6 WEEKS ago by email.
Circuit City keeps claiming shipment is eminent but so far have received nothing.
Now I see their name on a watch (them go bankrupt) list.
    What's next??
Good business practice to claim in stock and next day shipping then delay delay delay. No wonder they might go bankrupt….

"Fading memories" on slides?? Does this guy even know what he's writing? I have 50-year old Kodachromes that look as vivid as they day they were taken. How much of the rest of the article is full of bs?

Ask to see this thing work before you buy. I installed the software for a friend who purchased this or one like it. He was eager to digitize his slide collection but is shakey in the computer department. I was unimpressed by the muddy appearance that persisted in the final results. He was also and returned the item.
