Using Bebo on your phone

While not as popular as Facebook or MySpace, Bebo is a hot social media network that has recently gone mobile, allowing friends to share their best on-the-go moments.

While not as popular as Facebook or MySpace, Bebo is a hot social media network that has recently gone mobile, allowing friends to share their best on-the-go moments.

In case you’re not a Bebo user, this 3-year-old service (now owned by AOL) lets users create profiles for free, stay connected with friends, watch videos and listen to music. Bebo now has nearly 40 million users worldwide and is officially the largest social networking site in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand (and third in the U.S. behind MySpace and Facebook, respectively).

On your phone, you can:

* Share your life on the fly with blog posts, status updates and uploaded pictures taken with your phone just moments earlier. Your Bebo friends will receive updates of your whereabouts and can comment on your shot-from-the-hip pics.

* Access your Bebo friends’ homepages, blogs, status updates and read and reply to messages sent to you privately or publicly. Post comments on your friends’ photos, accept new friend invites and check out your favourite bands’ profiles.

* Search through the entire Bebo network to add new friends, check out who their friends are, or to lookup what your no-good ex is up to these days by scouring their blogs and photos. Use Bebo on your PC to view member videos, too.

How to access Bebo on our phone:

1. First things first: sign up for your free Bebo account on a computer.

2. Launch your browser on your phone and type is m.bebo.com.

3. Log in and begin uploading photos by selecting Upload a Photo, browsing to find the desired pic on your phone, adding a caption (optional) and then selecting Upload.
