The Fab Four, long-time holdouts for digital distribution, will finally make its catalogue available – but not via iTunes or any other online store. Instead, today MTV Games and Apple Corps announced a Beatles version of the popular Rock Band video game in 2009.
This new partnership between Apple Corps (along with EMI Music, Harrisongs Ltd, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing) and Harmonix (a division of MTV Games responsible for creating the “Rock Band” phenomenon) represents the first time The Beatles music will be available in video game.
While not officially titled "Rock Band: The Beatles" (er, or not yet, anyway), this new game was conceived with input from Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison. Plus, Giles Martin, co-producer of The Beatles Love show in Las Vegas, will also lend his expertise as music producer on this ambitious project.
"The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out," Sir Paul McCartney said in a statement.
"It gives me great pleasure to be part of The Beatles/Apple and Harmonix/Rock Band partnership," said Ringo Starr. "The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that The Beatles’ legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in. Let the games commence."

Thanks for remember bands like The Beatles, the new generation only knows bands like jonas bro, my chemical etc…
I really hope that this is just a downloadable pack, and they don't actually want people to shell out 200 or even 40 bucks for it.
Now they need to make Metallica and a Pink Floyd version:P
I am in the "This Generation" and the Beatles are my favourite band (I also like Paul's solo gigs and the Travelling Wilburys). I think they should make it a game on it owns because I can't buy expansion packs because I have no credit card and my dad won't let use his.
@Maggz: They should make a "Artists We Will Never Forget" version and btw, they already have a Metallica track set.
Not surprising. We have had Beatle Dolls etc. Why not computerized Beatles. Maybe on way of revitalizing their music.
this is soooooooo gonna rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Paul and Ringo personally OK'd it, it should be FINE…look how great the collaboration with Cirque du Soleil on "Love" went! Rock on…Beatles Forever!
Finlly! I'd be willing to pay 5000 bucks for this game!Woooo-Hooooo!

Beatles Rock Band?
I think they need to consider pushing expansion packs instead of creating whole games of the same thing. There's no need to have a whole game of The Beatles on Rock Band or Guitar Hero or whatever else. I'm a huge fan of the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games, so I bought the Aerosmith Guitar Hero and let me say this: it's the same ol' same ol'. I would rather download a band's expansion pack than pay $49.99 for every band that has an extensive library of music. I know the musicians are all for it because they make waaayyyy more money on their cut in a video game (average price $49.99-$59.99), compared to a CD (average price $9.99-$12.99), but where does it end?
Bruce Springsteen Rock Band? Elton John? Celine Dion Guitar Hero?
I think it was a good idea to make such a game, to share this with younger generations. We’re always hungry for new games, but sometime it’s good to look in the past for great ideas! :)
