‘Harry Potter’ movie delay affects EA

Electronic Arts has confirmed its video game based on the delayed Warner Bros. film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be pushed back with the movie to the summer of 2009.

Harry_potter_game Electronic Arts has confirmed its video game based on the delayed Warner Bros. film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be pushed back with the movie to the summer of 2009.

This Harry Potter game delay could mean a bad "spell" for for investors, as EA had anticipated the game, which was to be released with the movie this November, would contribute $120 million (U.S.) in revenue during the company’s fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2009.

The lost revenue is only a fraction of the estimated $5.1 billion in total revenue the publisher has forecast for the year, but The Wall Street Journal reported BMO Capital Markets analyst Edward Williams had lowered his 2009 profit estimate for Electronic Arts by 10 cents a share to $1.50.
