I have not had a land line with the exception of a few months in the last 4 years. I was paying $80 to $90 just to have service, long distance, call id & voicemail talk about a total rip off. I'm paying $40 a month for a cell and just have a line in the house for DSL. I'm not home on the weekends and I find most of the time when people want to reach you and you have both they just call you on your cell any ways.

Have a land line? Wouldn't be without one! In addition to that I make sure I have an old fashioned hard wired phone connected to the land line. Why? Power outages! I've had 2 in the last 2 months and some friends recently bought a corded phone after their power went out and they couldn't call for repairs. We don't have reliable power here.

I think basically all you need now is a smart phone i.e. blackberry or i-phone. You get internet, calling, e-mail all in one, why would i ever use a landline again. It is a relic just like VCR's.

Were I built a house there are NO land lines. So we had to go to EXPLORNET . That is explornet.com . Start up is $500. for equipment. Then it is $50. per month unlimited internet an long distance phone. Check it out! Same phone number too!

Who the heck needs a landline? I can't believe anyone would pay for 2 phones. How did we scam people into still keeping their landlines? It's like paying for water…nice to have but completely unnecessary when you're already paying for it at home.

At our house, we use the land-line when we're home and our cellphones when we're on the go; that way, if we have to remind someone about something, we pick up the land-line phone and call the people on their cells, or vice-versa.

So I think we should still use both in houses with multiple people in it. Because it is frustrating to loose a call because you couldn't find you cell. xD While the land-line is usually always in the same place (if you don't use a cordless).

We just have to remind ourselves that we should buy what we NEED and not just what we WANT.

At this point in time we only use a CELL phone for emergencies! We're senior citizens and find moble phones too expensive. We have gone to Vonage for our landline and we hope and think that will end up being cheaper in the long run!

I have not had a "Land Line Phone" (LLP) for over a decade.

The price of a LLP, as compared to a "mobile" and its flexibility of anywhere usage, as well as wireless internet makes a LLP obsolete.

I just got rid of my land line 6 months ago. I have an extremely busy lifestyle and most people could only reach me by cell anyway. The only thing I'm missing out on is telemarketing.

I don't even have a landline anymore. With the new cell phone plans and my blackberry, I find the landline useless. I had a choice to make, cell or landline. I chose cell phone and I haven't regretted my decision.
