If you ride on concrete, asphalt, wood or snow – or you know someone who does – Push.ca is worth a look.

Okay, you got me – this isn’t a very techy or gadgety post. But push.ca is a website so that kinda counts right?

No? Well you can’t blame a guy for trying, and I’m really excited about this one. This week, a colleague of mine in the office, Matt Houghton, just put the finishing touches on a new site that mixes photos, videos, blogs, user-generated content, maps and a ton of other tricks, into a unique home on the web for Canadian skateboarders and snowboarders.

It’s unique because it’s the only site (that we know of) that brings all of these elements together in one place. They’ve got two totally original video series "Motion Capture" and "Inside Out" which you won’t find on YouTube. Did I mention it has comprehensive list of over 400 skateparks, which can be mapped via Virtual Earth? If you know of park that isn’t on the list, you can submit it so that others can get it on the action, or keep it a locals-only secret. Users can create profile pages and comment on each others photos and videos.

In another life, I used to spend a lot of time on a skateboard and would have loved a resource like this.

The site makes extensive use of Microsoft’s new Silverlight technology which enables some cool features like video thumbnail previews (just mouse over the thumbnail to see the video play) and video commenting.

They’re still in beta, so if you find the odd bug don’t be surprised – but definitely let the push.ca team know.
