OK, this creeps me right out. In fact, when I first watched this video about a Japanese robotics professor who developed "The Geminoid" that looks and talks like himself, I thought it was a hoax. But it's not. Check it out.

Considering the improvements, the speed issue of the face will be resolved in the next few years. Possibly the prediction of people marrying robots by 2050 will come true. Scientists have just come out with a new robot skin that uses nanotubes which means the robot will be able to feel more like a human being.
The question of power supply remains, and that's being looked after by Asian scientists. Asia has a vested interest in robots, Japan with it's aging population, Korea the commercial. The latter has passed their form of Asimov's laws for robots to follow, as well as aiming for every home to have a robot.
Murphy's law anyone? Or Cylon in the making?

Wow. It looks so real.
I remember seeing a photo with the female version in the Guinness World Records 2008.

My question is why? This reminds me of the frankenstein movie! And we know how that turned out.

This is truely amazing however I think this is opening pandora's box. I wonder when the first person will use these robots for crime and such. I've read other articles about this and they perdict that robots with flood the workplace and common household within a short number of years. They even have said they are manufacturing these robots for sexual fantasy. I don't know . . . doesn't seem right to me . . .

This is what they should have done with the "frozen sasquatch". Then maybe people would have believed it was real. lol.

I think it's strange, but we shouldn't worry. that thing has about as much AI as a furby, so it's harmless. However, if they had made an advanced, nearly humanlike AI (Artificial intelegence), then I would start worrying. Because the first thing we would do is treat them like slaves, and any sentient being would want to be free. If any one has seen the prolouge to "the matrix" series, then they know what happens next (a robot revolt, order to destroy them, more violence, and eventualy war). although, we probably would just get the humans out of robot terratory, then bomb them. though hopefully they don't make an AI that advance, even thogh they are trying. so to quote some guy in jurrasic park, "they spend so much time wondering on how they could do it they don't bother to wonder whether or not they should".

yeah, when this thing can stand on its own, walk and talk on its own and can fight a war on its own... then come get me. Until then dont bore me with this stuff. peace.

People who are even remotely against this kind of technology have seen the Terminator movies a few too many times.

I think it's really cool. But marrying a robot not really.
Maybe you're right I have seen too many Terminator movies!

the whole playing god bit is a tad off. I mean c'mon....God NEVER made a single robot ;) aside from that, I think this is incredible and we should embrace the technology as fast as it is developed.

Revelation 13:13-17 "And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from Heaven in the sight of men. And decieves them who dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image of the beast which had the wound by the sword and did live. AND HE HAD POWER TO GIVE LIFE TO THE IMAGE OF THE BEAST, that the Image of the beast should both SPEAK and cause that as many as WOULD NOT WORSHIP the image of the beast should be killed. And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free an bond to receive a mark in their right hand or foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he who had the mark, or the name of the beast or the number of his name."
For years people have scoffed the Bible saying "How can a person be prohibited from buying and selling unless they had a mark? How can an image speak?"
Digital angel is a microchip inserted under the skin, it acts a tracking device. With the amounts of info storage capacity a chip has, a person's whole history can be imprinted on a chip and injected. With Europe having One currency, it will spread to a global currency. With the advances in technology, cash is becoming obselete, the conditions for a state enforced chip implant to do transactions is not as far fetched as was once believed.
As for the image, this robot is crude...but it paves the way.
Mix in the Mid East tensions. If anyone can resolve it and make peace they will be seen as a savior. This "savior" will come, a devil in disguise, a man who destroys through peace, a man who will enforce a biochip implant and refusal to do so will result in a death sentence by beheading. He will have a robotic likeness of himself.
10 years, 15, 20, maybe less...but it is coming. Jesus is the only security one has.
