The annual Black Hat conferences draw the brightest hackers from around the world to share the secrets of the trade and to open those secrets to companies and governments which need to understand information security. The big Las Vegas meeting is just wrapping up.
The Web site, under the Archives link, offers many presentations which detail the sorry state of Internet security. If you think you can surf in peace and safety, think again.
This issue is why Backbone writes about Internet security so often (see here and here and here, for example), so read those pieces, but also cruise through Black Hat. If you or your company has a Web site, conducts e-business of any sort, or stores customer and financial information in a computer–in other words, if you do business today–reading up is certainly in your best interest.
