Want to open files and folders with a single click instead of a double click? No problem, follow these steps to change your settings in Windows XP and Vista.
When you surf the Web you can click on a link with just one click and your browser takes you where you want to go, so why must you double-click to open files and folders in programs like Windows Explorer or My Computer? Essentially you’re doing double the work.
If you want to change this to a single click, here's how to do it.
In Windows XP:
1. Click Start and then select My Computer.
2. Click Tools at the top of the screen, then Folder Options
3. Under the General tab, select "Single-click to open an item," then click Ok.
In Windows Vista:
1. Click Start and then select Computer
2. Press the Alt key, then Tools, Folder Options
3. Under the General tab, select "Single-click to open an item," then click Ok.

Thanks for the tip Marc. I hate double-clicking - not out of laziness or impatience (one extra click is hardly an impediment!)but because it just feels awkward and disrupts the flow.
