Hi to all Canadians!!
What about Rentthings.ca?
www.rentthings.ca

RentThings offers a solution allowing to rent things or stuff closer to you. Either you are organizing official party or baby shower event, need a bicycle, luxury handbag or a limousine for rent, you have just to choose the item and the location.

RentThings is appropriate for individuals as for businesses by offering a powerful platform allowing to put for rent and to manage a thousands objects by account.

RentThings is established to fill the void between persons offering items for rental and those looking for things to rent, provides a marketplace that pairs people – those with a “need stuff to rent" with those “offering stuff to rent". Our aim is to provide an environment that creates the sharing of goods and or services that not only makes the parties happy, but provides the means by which both sides of the transaction save and make money in the process.

Our Mission and Philosophy:
RentThings aims at encouraging Individuals and Businesses to make ethical and ecological choices.

RentThings make you save some serious money

Renting is a cost effective solution.

Why buy something that you will use only once a year or twice when you can rent it for a fraction of the price?

Why buy a DVD you’ll watch only once?

Why buy a video game you'll only play few times?

Why buy skis if you only ski once a year?

People are starting to figure out that they don’t have to shoulder the maintenance and other costs of ownership. Renting lets your money go farther, paying only for what you use and pocketing the savings.

Renting has long been an alternative to buying things that were unaffordable or pointless to purchase because you needed them only temporarily -- whether a tuxedo, pressure washer or designer dress. In today’s economy, people prefer smaller, incremental payments as being more manageable.

RentThings make you save space

Why do we clutter our lives and our planet with more and more stuff?

Take a second to think about your home. Now, think about your closets. Are they empty?Chances are, they're stuffed beyond capacity -- usually to the point where you can barely shut the door.Whether you have 1 closet or 10 closets, chances are you'll find ways to fill them. Why is it so easy for us to accumulate so much stuff? Because this is how we've been programmed to consume. In order to remain savvy, we're forced to upgrade to the latest tech gadgets that claim to be "the next big thing."In order to remain fashionable, we're forced to keep up with the latest styles that fluctuate drastically from season to season. After a while, we end up with a pile of old iPods and shoes that do nothing but take up space, adding zero value to our lives.

It’s time to introduce a cyclical process -- something that is sustainable and anti-clutter.
Fortunately, renting is cyclical. You take a material good that has been produced and reuse that product over and over and over, until its value has been fully maximized.More sharing = less production = less waste. We’re not suggesting that renting is the cure-all for our society's obsession with possession but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

"Rentthings is here to cooperate to save the planet"

Unforunately only 3 of those 25 web sites are actually Canadian owned or operated. Give or take 2.

NHL.com is probably an american company and eBay I believe (if memory serves me correctly) had a Canadian born executive.

In anycase, there are far to few Canadian web sites, genuinely Canadian. Buying a .ca top level domain does not qualify as being 110% Canadian.

While were still in very early beta and the design and code are being re-factored in some places and re-written in others, I really wish sites like CliqueCanada got more attention, especially from Canadian media.

Website: http://www.cliquecanada.com

Cheers,
Alex

ComScore Media Metrix, the onlnie advertising and traffic authority, who ranks based on a statistically viable sample of actual Canadians says otherwise. For example (I can't disclose specific figures or rankings publically, unfortunately), NY Times Group and Amazon are a part of the real Top25 reach online properties in Canada whereas the Government sites don't appear there.

Re: USA listed 10 Countries on Piracy... of movies, songs, DVDs, etc. Jobs lost by thousands !! Is this a fact or fiction?? What was USA thinking when they supported "Free Trade", why are knock-offs and pirated products available for sale in the USA? Most likely the Govt., is loosing tax revenues and the poor singers, actors, and other performers who are paid in millions are loosing their hard earned..."Royalties"!!! What is the TRUTH ? We will never know. Start by banning imports of copy-cat and pirated products in your own country..USA, keep your backyard clean and than attack other countries!! Thank you.
