Blinx YouTube, Shmootube. A new video-centric search engine called blinkx finds more than 18 million hours of videos from around the world. Yes, 18 million hours. And counting.

Dubbed the world’s largest and most advanced video search engine, blinkz is basically a gateway to find many millions of hours of searchable video, including content from more than 200 broadcast partners, private video libraries and commercial media giants.

Just for fun I typed my name in and found two-dozen interviews I’ve done on TV, half of which I forgot about. It also took less than a second to spit out all of the sites and begin playing a video in the preview window. Cool!

According to the company, blinkx uses a unique combination of patented conceptual search, speech recognition and video analysis software to accurately find online video.

Visitors can also create personal video playlists or build a customized Video Wall for MySpace page or blog.
