A few months back Sync ruffled a few feathers with taxi drivers by suggesting some of them rip off passengers by taking them the long way to a destination (well, it’s true, but there are jerk passengers, too). Click here to read the original story.

The blog post was about a free service, World Taximeter, available on your PC or mobile phone, that combines directions from Google Maps with local cab fares to give you an estimate of the cost of a cab ride in cities worldwide. So now you know roughly how much it could cost from, say, the airport in Paris, to your hotel – before you step into the taxi.
