Question: Marc, I downloaded a video from Sri Lanka, but can’t figure out how to play these files. Most of them have the extension .VOB. Can you please help?

Sure thing. This sounds like it was extracted from a DVD, so there are two things you can do:

One is to download a free media player that can handle this format. I’d strongly recommend the free VideoLAN’s VLC media player. All you need to do is open up a program like Windows Explorer and double-click those .VOB files to begin watching the flick.

If you’d like to watch this on a DVD player, so you can enjoy the film on a big-screen television, you can burn a disc with these .VOB files, but make sure they’re in a directory called VIDEO_TS; if it wasn’t in your original download, try manually creating this directory and dragging the .VOB and other files, such as .IFO, into it.

Good luck!
