Play the awesome ‘Psychonauts’ for free

One of the most underrated video games over the past few years is now playable for free at GameTap, an online gaming service with hundreds of titles available.

Originally released in 2005, Majesco’s Psychonauts is from the twisted mind of Tim Schafer, the creator of such classic PC adventure games as Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle.

Psychonauts takes place at a summer retreat for kids with psychic abilities. While training to become "psychonauts" — secret spies who rely on their extraordinary abilities — a malevolent scientist is abducting campers so he can steal their brains and use their collective psychic power to take over the world. (Insert maniacal laughter here).

In this action/adventure hybrid, gamers play as "Raz" (Rasputin), a pint-sized paranormal who stumbles upon this scheme and vows to use his newly acquired powers to stop it.

In order to play it for free, players first need to download and install the 31.7MB GameTap player and sign up for a free account. Aside from seeing advertisements before and after the game, the only other catch is you need to be online to play, therefore you can’t boot up Psychonauts on your laptop while flying at 30,000 feet.
