I use it and I don't. I have specific rules for it. If you are a married man, I don't add you, if I knew you when I was 12 and you were 4 I don't add you. I stay out of the "bashing" on there. Its true though, all the 500 add me requests I got I now never hear from them. Its hooked up to my phone so I get alerted but I do prefer e mails over facebook. Just me.

Facebook is crap, and I will never use it again... too many social disturbances.. pee me right off...

dont want some of those peps to find me..

Facebook helps me stay in touch with my adult daughters and other family members who now work or study in other cities around the world. Yes, I also use the telephone and even make visits, but this is sometimes difficult to do if family members live thousands or even hundreds of miles away.
By the way, I just returned from Europe where I kept in touch with almost everyone by posting on Facebook. Now that I'm back in Canada, I upload my travel photos to my Facebook profile. Facebook allows non-Facebook-members to view the photos too: a bonus.
Finally, I do believe most of us are seduced by technological conveniences in general, whether they are using the Internet, television, video-games, automobiles, convenience foods, and more. Even telephones can keep us inactive! ALL these things can encourage lack of exercise and over-eating.

I use facebook but very differently than when I first got it. I used to be all about the quizzes, etc, but that got boring -- and then I entered into a long distance relationship (I met my fiancee when he was visiting family, and he is moving here in a month to go to school). Facebook feels far more "personal" than emails, because it's an easy and clear way to have an ongoing discussion as well as post videos, pictures, and other fun things. It is also very nice to "see" who you are talking with. Besides, the amount of messages we send would make my email unusable!

I use Facebook. I think it's pretty cool too. Except for all of the extra extensions, and the various money grabs that they've got on there, such as the gift-giving crap.

And what everyone is saying negatively about Facebook? I'm pretty sure they've said the same thing about chatrooms, MySpace, MSN, Blogs and the Internet as we know it. I mean--if this is such a waste of time...then what are you doing here?

I think all the people commenting on how facebook is a waste of time and people should go meet "real people" and have real friends either have very few friends and/or have never left their little village of Mooseass and thus have a handful of moose and sheep as friends. In the real world, people travel, meet other people…and lose touch sometimes…facebook allows such normal people to stay in touch, connected with such friends. Most people dont go on facebook to make new friends -though some people may meet people that way.

I've lived abroad for the past 5 years. Facebook is great for helping me keep in touch with my friends all over the world. It's got one of the fastest/easiest photo uploaders and sharing online albums is really easy even with non-users

i think we all have to calm down. those who bash facebook probably are a little depressed because they dont need facebook; they probably dont have any friends to connect with and still live at home. either that or theyre super rich and can afford to call all their friends long distance whenever they want. but then, why would they be bashing the poor peasants who need to resort to facebook…hm.

In my university…when you are in a lecture hall(300 or more persons) 80% of students r on FAcebook when the prof is giving a lecture.lol
