FacebookThe number of people who use Facebook has been leveling off over the past few months in the U.S., according to the latest stats provided by comScore.

In fact, the report concluded numbers dipped by roughly 800,000 users in January alone. Specifically, Facebook attracted 33.9 million unique visitors in January, 2008, down 2 percent from 34.7 million in December, 2007.

Worldwide, however, Facebook grew 3 percent in January over December, attracting 100.7 million unique visitors. By comparison, MySpace had 109.3 million visitors worldwide, up 2 percent month-over-month.

What about you? If you signed up for a Facebook account last year, do you still use it today?

I use it on and off. It's novelty has worn off. I usually deactivate the account for a couple months, then there will be a slow rainy day where I get bored and reactivate it. Then deactivate it again.

YA !! i love facebook its asome, i use it all the time in fact i don't even talk on msn as much every one talked in facebook now lol ;]

  • Christie says:

I think it so boring. What's the point of it? I log on, look at your pix… and?? No, I don't use it. I hope it dies soon, cuz I'm sick of the guy at the bus stop wanting to add me.

Facebook is the dumbest idea in the world. People, get out of the house and make real friends. This is one of the reasons that so many children are overweight. Go outside and get some exercise losers.

  • Kris says:

I don't use it quite as often anymore, usually when i get an email or get bored. I have enjoyed it as I have moved across the country a few times and has lost touch with some friends that I have been reunited with. Facebook helped me track them down quickly!

I think Facebook is a fabulous networking tool. Great for keeping up on the social scene and old/new friends but also for business purposes :)

  • Harold says:

What ever happened to the old fashion of talking with people on the telephone; why are we disconnecting ourselves from this old form of communication?

  • MelanieG says:

It is a useful tool. My parents separated when I was 7 and he kinda pulled away from us. With facebook I've been able to find that whole side of the family, and old friends. This is something that would have been very time consuming irl, and I may not have bothered. It's something I'd wonder about at times in my life but had no tangible way to look into other than telephone directories and general net searches. It is what it is, and it works. Some use it daily, some use it randomly. Take it for what it is…or not. Freedom of choice, embrace it, it's yours.

  • Darv says:

OK Bob, I take offense to that. Why are you lumping all facebook users into one category? I probably get more exercise than you and I have many "real" friends. Do you even have an account or have you seen one? Facebook is a great for keeping in touch with people that you otherwise would have lost touch with a long time ago. I have many people from college and high school on there that I haven't talked to in years and we are now talking again. It is a great site.

Facebook is a great tool in reminding me about event going on such as baby showers.. birthdays.. things that I would otherwise forget to or not write in my calendar.. I absolutely hate the telephone.. I find it to be the biggest distraction in a work day as well as at home when Im trying to cook etc..

I had facebook for a few months last year but its been deactivated now for almost a year. It wasted all my time and I feel like if ppl want to talk to me they can pick up the phone…not write on my wall lol. big waste of TIME ..PLUS i hate how ppl get mad at me for not having it! like RELAX i dont have to be like the rest of the millions of addicts on there.

  • Christine says:

I have mixed feelings towards Facebook. It is a handy way to keep in touch w/ long lost family and or friends. It reunited me w/ my family! I think it boils down to the person using Facebook theirselves, after all we are in charge of ourselves.

  • John Dingle says:

No, I don't like it at all. It's full of useless stuff.I removed all my information from it just the other day.

  • Rhonda says:

Face Book is fantastic for re-connecting with old school and univ friends, as well as with distant family! It is only a waste of time if u spend all day on it, and neglect other aspects of ur life. It is a great tool for planning an evening out with the girls..(or the guys!)And as for picking up the phone not everyone has the time to chat on the phone, there is nothing more frustrating then calling someone and they are not home(leave a message and then play message tag for a week) or when u do talk to them ur/their call waiting goes into overdrive. Bash Face Book all u want, for the ones that enjoy it leave them be, don't be so judgmental and petty! Having said that I am off to Face Book to waste my time as some of u have suggested, and I am going to love every minute of it!!

  • Jason says:

i use it but i don't see the point of using it anymore. one of these days i might just deactivate it.

  • Samantha says:

i've been using facebook for almost a year now…its great but also very addictive…but helps you stay in-touch with friends and family and also re-connect with long-time-no-see friends and all
its great and i love it!

  • jul says:

Bob, I use it to talk to friends that live in other provinces/countries its free and we can still stay in touch. (Plus what child has time to do activity on top of schoolwork/getting into university)

  • Menacexp says:

I enjoy facebook, i find it very useful. If people find it a huge waste of time or consuming too much of their time…simply stop using it so much then.

  • mgmt says:

yup, I still use mine. I actually abandoned (but not closed my account) Myspace when I switched to Facebook. I disagree with Bob's comment. people on Facebook do have friends in the real world. it's just a way for them to connect with other people not in their locale. head outside for some exercise at this time of the year? so now who's living the in real world here?
