Video gamers, rejoice! Rockstar Games has committed to a launch date for its next instalment in the multimillion dollar Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Mark your calendars. Grand Theft Auto IV will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. The third trailer, dubbed “Move Up, Ladies,” is up on the site now.
As with its controversial predecessors, GTA4 will let gamers work their way up the criminal underworld by taking on seedy missions in a bustling city, carjacking vehicles and engaging in shootouts with rival gangs and cops.
This time around, however, you’ll play as Niko Bellic, a Russian immigrant who was lured to America by his scheming cousin, but soon discovers the streets are not paved with gold as promised.
Along with high-resolution graphics, players can expect a huge NYC-esque metropolis (and with many more vertical environments to explore), online multiplayer support and downloadable content.

Finally they add mutliplayer to this game. It is about freakin time. How they managed to release all the GTA's of the last generation without multiplayer absolutely puzzles me to this day. What could be more entertaining than running around a massive city with weapons and cars galore WITH other real people doing the same thing in the same city. This will up the realism of this game big time if it allows for MMO style gaming instead of some bogus 2 player or even 32 or 64 player user based server.
