Have a new toshiba TV. Reomote will function correctly if TV is off, however, wont work if TV is on. Sometimes takes up to 10 minutes before it starts to work. Re Bell's HDTV, I only pay an extra $10 a month and the channel selection is great. I find myself watching stuff I wouldn't dreamed of watching before (travel, nature, etc).
