And from the CES ‘Aw, how cute’ department

Consider it a cross between an MP3 player and the now-defunct AIBO robotic pet, but the Sony Rolly entertainment player is one adorable piece of machinery.

Sony_rolly_a_2Consider it a cross between an MP3 player and the now-defunct AIBO robotic pet, but the Sony Rolly entertainment player is one adorable piece of machinery.

This palm-sized, egg-shaped gadget plays music through its external speakers — via 2 gigabytes of internal memory or streamed from a nearby Bluetooth phone — and uses its six moving parts to spin, roll and dance to the beat (hence the name, Rolly, pronounced "roll-eee").

It also puts on a coloured light show in the process with up to 700 colour combinations splashed on the table it’s grooving on.

When the Rolly debuts in the U.S. sometime this spring, users can also program unique choreography routines.
