Rather than keeping my cell phone volume level high, I rather keep my phone on silent and simply check from time to time for text messages. This means that my phone isn't obtrusive in nature, and I can maintain a continuous conversation with whomever the person may be, at whatever pace suits us best. What troubles me is when I miss a call, and have to pay to check my messages and then phone the person back. Text messages are quick, convenient, inexpensive, and allow a busy person such as myself to avoid people who talk too long on the phone. I am obviously not a fan of talking on the phone.
